hipster robot webcomics and pixel t-shirts It is a state of mind, hard to maintain fully save by those most enlightened, wise or simply sincere.
Artistic credentials aside, what matters most I feel is stark honesty and speaking truth.
Speaking truth as a poet, musician, writer. Perhaps just as a friend, confidant, adviser...a sage for those seeking consul.
If a poet is not these things. Then are they a poet?
This is to me at least, the real point. Conceits can be conceits, but if lies do not tell truths, then what use are they?
There is no use in deceptions without achieving objectives- not single objectives mind you, in strategy indirectness is valuable (as I subscribe to such a view), but alternate objectives are the best. Where the objectives of others coincide, therein is the truth within the lie, or perhaps merely the machination.
Structural poetry- that is something I've lacked in intent. I do not plan so well, though I may yet still conceive and follow through.
Clarity is so hard to maintain, that I am grateful for it now, or at least earlier tonight.
Perhaps, I will greatly enjoy plans for tomorrow, as I enjoyed plans today.
And plan I shall. And prepare, though the best laid plans rarely survive the battlefield that is reality.
As is suggested above "Be sincere, but tell everyone you're doing a character."
Though the conversation is between two fictional indie hipsters it has substance.
Yes, be the truth within your conceit. Yes, maintain the poetic voice, but speak truth.
This is a secret to life, this is a secret by which I plan to write.
Without secrets, what value lies in truth (or in lies?)
