blegh
Well, as I anticipated, I didn't go to the concert tonight. Thats fine with me, though, cus I didn't really want to go all that much anyway.
So after work I came home for a bit and then went to AC Moore for some art supplies. After that I came back and worked on my overdue oil painting for the class I'm doing poorly in, due to my lack of ambition and love for oil paint.
I went with a fairy theme for this painting, it's the only one this semester in which the students are actually able to be truly creative. As in, for once we get to come up with our own fuckin stuff.
About 12 AM (2 1/2) hours later, I quit working. I have nearly 25% of it done, now. I started the fairy portrait tonight and it looks amazing at the moment. The only thing I have to figure out is how I am going to do the background. Her face, however, makes me very proud. She looks beautiful.
Perhaps Sunday I will go over to the art building and put the jacket on the mold I am making for my glass sculpture project. This is gonna be awesome when its done...if it ever gets done. Supposedly the plaster mold has to be fired in the kiln before we pour the glass in...because of this, the due date is now set for a later time and we are off to work on a new soap stone carving project.
The idea of working with soap stone...or any actual carving project...for the first time absolutely petrifies me. I have never even attempted any such thing before, and have no inspiration as of yet. I'm so scared that I am going to fuck this up. Somehow I have to start looking around for some ideas on what the hell I am going to make out of a rock.
I guess the best thing I can do, is listen to it and wait for my little soap stone rock to "speak to me", as any cliche artist would tell you. So it would only make sense that if I am going to listen and wait for this little guy to talk to me...I might as well name it. So you kids better expect to be hearing about my project's "name", for I will be posting it in a future update.
And, goddamnit, it WILL be cute!
