The Master stood, arms crossed, in the dark of his TARDIS. The only illumination was that of a small, glowing computer screen, one where he was going over a series of mathematical predictions and analysations. The light only seemed to deepen the shadows around him instead of dispelling them.

He had work to do; the mathematics were the final key in his design. He had these once before, through the computation of a young boy - Adric - but that had been foiled through the Doctor's meddling. The Web was too good an idea to let rot in pieces and in memory, so he sought to bring it back into existence, work it more towards his needs.

Just a few more computations and he could have it again, and with it, do as he liked. The Master grinned broadly and leaned forward, eager with expectation. Just a few more minutes, just that much more.

An error flashed up on the screen, then multiplied. The program froze, and the Master went rigid with anger. Without thinking, he lashed out at the screen, sending it slamming against a wall. Sparks flew for a second before the electronics faded, and the room plunged back into total darkness.

He would have to start again, and next time, there would be no errors. That was a fact he was sure of.
