what a weekend
Friday Night: Chanukkah party @ Dr. Chaiken's house. Good food. Lots of talking w/ jews. it's nice to be reminded that we exist here. Also got my Holiday-in-a-Box. Then Firefly party @ Vik's. Got through 6 episodes! fell asleep on the chair around 3 or 4 and woke up around 8 and half slept/half daudled till 10.30 when I got up.
Saturday Morning: Orange Belt testing. Mom, Matt, and Jane came to watch. Mr. Bowers was teaching so we had an actual class before the testing! He made us do the Wall-of-Pain and I didn't even say anything!!! We played "Name that Move" while we were stretching. He'd ask us to name the #_ move of our form and we'd have to say what the move was for whatever number he picked. White Belt has 18 moves, the last 9 are the same as the first 9, so i found it a fun, easy game. Then we went through the form and the one steps twice each. I messed up the second time i went through my form...stepped forward w/ the wrong foot. I was allowed to do it over, but Mr. Bowers gave me a funny look and told me to relax. I passed. Everyone knew I would, but I didn't know how proud I would really feel when sarah tied my new belt on me and gave me my Decided stripe. was pretty damn happy w/ myself. I've got some real colour for my uniform now. real coloured belt.
Saturday Afternoon: Mom took me, jane, and matt out for lunch at Perkins. Jane and I had to leave early though, cause she had a dance thing and i had my choir rehersal at 2. Rehersal wasn't that bad, except that my knees locked, per usual from standing on the risers for 1.5-2 hours. But see, we got out at 3.30 and last i'd heard, caleb was going to be meeting me in the Oak Grove between 4 and 5 and i didn't know which end of that time frame was going to be more likely. So i hung around for a little bit just talking to John and Luke, but then they left and I went back into Sutton for a while where it was warm, then jane and amberlee came by and i walked them most of the way to the HUB then decided to walk back to the Grove for a bit more before going back to the room cause it really was getting cold. Lucky for me, I saw caleb hanging about, so those worries bout what to do disappeared. I ran to meet him and we went back to the HUB to meet back up w/ Jane and Amberlee. Talked for a while, then we parted ways and caleb and i went back to my room to figure out what our plans were for the rest of the night.
Saturday Night: We went to Spagetti Benders w/ Mike, Meghan, and Jess. was bored while we were waiting for food, so i pulled out my dreidel that i'd gotten in my Holiday-in-a-Box and spun. When it landed, I pushed it over to Caleb, who spun it too. He then passed it to Mike, who wasn't quite sure what to do, but spun anyway. Went all the way around the table a number of times before our food came. after dinner, we headed to Pratt for the TOST play which was much fun. Katie was very cute! Had a really good time. Even Penny showed up! Afterwards, stopped by Gint Agle and picked up some snacks and headed back to Mike's for gamey-goodness. Didn't really know what to play, seeing how it was me, caleb, mike, jess, meghan, and penny and we knew we were waiting for Kiran, but we didn't know that chris, amy, dan and luke would show up later too. I brought out the dreidel again and we broke out the bag of M&M's and i gave everyone the explaination of the letters and we played! I got 10 other people to play Dreidel with me! And it wasn't like how we play at home, where we count out half and only put two or three in, we used small handfuls to ante and just grabbed large handfuls and when someone got down to only a few M&M's, those with lots on their plate handed them to those that didn't. Then, when people got bored after half an hour or something, they started throwing M&M's at each other and into a chexmix container. it was so much fun. I love people. I love when people interact together in a positive manner. ^_^ Yay sociology!
Sunday: sorta slept in. got in contact w/ Mom and decided to go to brunch at Fosters. Ran into Jane and Amberlee there and we ate together. Parted ways again afterwards and I stopped into Cogswell to practice some before heading over to Sutton at 2. Concert went well. Gorell was freaking packed!!!!! Some people didn't even have seats! Concert went alright, don't think we messed up too much. afterwards, mom went home and caleb and i went out to Cici's for dinner. long talks, lots of smiles.
over all, a very good weekend.
