The hum of the engines was gone. She was no Kaylee or Wash, who were both finely tuned to the inner workings of Serenity that they noticed every little thing, but she knew when something wasn’t right. There was also the dull headache that was working its way through her skull, another sign that today was just going to be one of those days.
Zoe shifted from the sitting position she had been left in, taking in her surroundings. It was like no planet she had seen, and as well traveled as Zoe was, that was saying a lot. Names of planets around where she had last been began to murk around in her mind. She had to be on one of those, didn’t she? All of her mental alarms were going off-as even somewhere in her subconscious she knew that something was really wrong here.
“Ai ya,” she muttered to herself, wondering just how long it would take for the captain to find her. She had full confidence that between Wash’s persistence and Mal’s determination, it would only be a matter of time.
But just how much, she wondered before setting off.
"Welcome to Sacrosanct. Please watch your step."
She forced herself to move, the voice still in her ears. The rude awakening had been hours earlier, but even still, she had to force herself to move along the ‘tour’ that she was being designated. She didn’t like this place, that was for sure. Now that she was beyond wherever she had started, the scenery had changed.
And her guns. Her guns were gone. That was what she hated the most right now.
It just reeked of Alliance-the scenery was too nice in some spots, and definitely too clean. But it the near haunted emptiness of it that worried her. She continued to look around, setting her jaw on edge even as the hologram continued to chirp at her about this city. No, not a city. It was more of a prison.
Well, it was time to see just what this utopia was. Utopia-a perfect place. As a point of interest, it also meant ‘no place.’ Somewhere, Zoe kept that thought foremost and front in her mind.
