He makes a bee-line for the human, walking right up to him, setting down the satchel and sniffing at him for a moment before whining.
His translator does well by him, though.

He pauses, head snapping to stare off, wide-eyed in another direction, accompanied by the exclamation of "SQUIRREL!" before immediately calming down and looking up at Garrus again.

He wants to be a turian again. So badly. The exclamation earns a long stare of surprise and appraisal.
"I don't think being a dog is doing anything positive for your brain."

He whines, placing his head on Garrus leg.
"I don't think so no but interesting really I feel a lot more like this and it is easy to be very very happy or very sad and do you not love me because I love everyone a lot except some people who I don't."

That didn't sound like Sagan at all. Not even remotely. Well, maybe a little, but certainly not the same analytical and intelligent man he knew. He pauses and then slowly resumes scratching.
"Are you OK, Sagan?"

"A genetic sample would be really really really helpful so I can start to compare things and maybe fix this also rub my tummy that is not as important but it is still pretty important."
