Parker still wasn't thrilled about giving up the necklace she'd worked so hard to...well...to get handed over to her without question. Okay, so it hadn't been hard. But that wasn't the point ( Read more... )

Hardison was giving sympathy his best try, he really was, but Parker was hard enough to empathize with on a regular day and she had lifted a necklace that belonged to Noble Team. (...And, if they were the Noble One and Two he suspected they were, after stalking that transmission like it was nothing but bank routing numbers, he was intensely jealous that she got to have a Noble Codename when she didn't even go to the midnight release with him. Yes, he actually purchases some things. Try not to die of shock.) Still, she was Parker and she was sort of...pouty. If...anything Parker did could be classified by normal, human emotional states.

"Hey, you know what? I jut got a great idea," Hardison piped up as they approached. "After this, we'll go boost a sick ride." Car theft ought to cheer her up, right?

Parker slowly turned her head to look at Hardison as if he'd just grown a second head.

"You mean...like an ambulance?" she asked cautiously. Sometimes, she just didn't understand him at all.

What.

"Uh...no." Hardison took a moment to stare. "Like...a flying space Ferrari." He paused another moment. "Unless you want to steal an ambulance."

"Why would I want to steal an ambulance?"

Parker stared right back. She really didn't get where he was going with this.

"People need ambulances when they get hurt, Hardison. You can't just go around stealing them."

Hardison didn't even.

"Yeah, I guess you're right," he answered slowly. "No ambulances. Let's just...find a nice car instead."

Time for a subject change, though, because this was going in circles. Seemed like they had a little bit of time to kill before the Noble Team showed up. (EEEEEEEE. :D :D :D) Hardison motioned at Parker's pocket. He doubted the necklace was in that one (too easy to lift from and old habits die hard) but it was the gesture that mattered.

"How'd you manage to lift that, anyway?"

He didn't buy that she'd found it, not even a little.

"This?"

Suddenly, Parker was holding the necklace in her hand, though it was impossible to tell where she'd been hiding it. She gazed down at it in admiration for a moment before shrugging nonchalantly.

"I asked for it."

"And they just...gave it to you?" Hardison blinked. "Did you...grift them?"

How--who--what--?

Parker tilted her head, considering the question.

"Sort of," she acknowledged, and shrugged. "I said it was mine."

[ Further off, Carter was walking in plain clothes over to the designated meeting point, hands in his pockets. On anyone else, the position and everything else would have looked relaxed-- on Carter, someone of his size and build, it looked more like he wasn't quite sure what to do with himself and was just trying to look relaxed, or at least feign it. Off to his side, Kat's next to him while they wait. HERPDEDERP KING AND QUEEN OF AWKWARD ]

[ The reigning champions. Kat didn't really approve of the whole civilian getup for this encounter, since she figured the little snot could use a little bit of fear pounded into her by intimidation but-- Carter was the boss, and it was either fabric-clothes or no-show. So, she dressed down in jeans and a tank top.

She glances over at Carter as she walks at his side, brows furrowing a little. ]

You expect her to just hand it back?

[ ah. That must be them. He wasn't sure who the male was, but the girl was the one who had taken it, at least.

...Honestly, he's pretty much unconcerned with the necklace. He was more concerned with the breach of security, though he could talk to Emile about that, later. ]

...Essentially.

[ he gives Kat a glance, and resists the urge to actually look at her, because she does look nice in the jeans and tanktop. ]

She knows we're aware it's missing. And that she was the one who took it.

"Really? That's all it took?" Hardison was dubious but his line of questioning was cut short as they came upon the appointed meeting destination. It wasn't hard to guess that the two were waiting for them, or who they were, despite the awkward looking street-clothes, and Hardison shut up immediately. They--they were larger than life and he just stared. They could crush him flat without breaking a sweat....

They really were Noble team.

"Aw man," he complained quietly, to Parker, while they were still out of earshot. "How come you got a Noble tag?"

Despite this disappointment, he wasn't exactly pouting when they rolled up. In fact, it was all he could do not to grin like an idiot and shove his laptop at them to make them sign it. (What he wouldn't give to have ANY of his collectible shit on him.)

Parker, on the other hand, had absolutely no desire to grin. Apparently Noble Four's height hadn't been a fluke, and somehow, the fact that they were wearing normal clothes didn't make either of the Spartans seem any less intimidating.

She just shrugged in response to Hardison's question, slowing down as they approached the soldiers and eying the woman warily. That had to be Noble Two, the necklace's owner.

Hopefully she wasn't in a 'crush civilians flat' mood.

Kat was almost always in a 'crush something flat' mood, but luckily civilians were something she was supposed to keep an eye on, even if they stole her stuff. She looks down at the two, frowning slightly, then looks to Carter.

"Alice White?" she's asking him, not the woman.

Carter gives Kat a look from the corner of his eye, looking down at the two people approaching. It's her necklace, and it makes sense for her to be here, but still. No sense scaring the civvies, unless they need to be scared.

"I'm Carter, and this is Kat." A pause, giving Hardison a once-over. "I'm afraid I haven't talked to you before."

Sup, Hardison.

Carter and Kat.

Hardison debated putting his hands in his pockets, if only to help prevent him spazzing out. With Carter introducing people though, he saw an opportunity and dammit he was going to take it. Hardison smile genially (it was a little...overmuch, given the situation, but he hardly noticed) and extended a hand to shake.

There, however, he hit a hitch in the plan.

Parker had given them an alias.... Did that mean he should give them an alias? Which one? Wait...he wouldn't be able to get them to sign it to him...nevermind he hadn't actually decided what to ask them to sign, nor how to ask them to do it. Hardison was struck with an intense disappointment and diverted the question.

"Don't get out much," he answered.
