[Once the sun has set and the sand has cooled, the bonfire begins. It's cozy and warm-- the perfect place for story telling, reflecting, and drinking beer.]

[ Guess who finally decided to show up. Barely but an outline against the bonfire, the terminator moves out from the tree line- twigs and leaves stuck in its matted down, artificial mess of short brown hair. And its still wearing sunglasses. ]

[John makes his way over to the Terminator, looking concerned.]

Was wondering when you'd show up.

[ It doesn't move much, and it was difficult to tell (what with the sunglasses and night and all), but it appeared to be looking at the foliage covering its hair and clothes. ]

busy. Are you safe?

My mission was to come here, I abided.

[ It picks a twig off of its jacket. ]

My side mission of my own volition was to see the spring birds. As was my earlier peripheral mission prior to Sarah's arrival.

[John wasn't sure which part of that statement scared him more, that the Terminator was giving itself missions, or that it had decided that mission should be to watch birds.]

The spring birds?

No, I wanted to know why you wanted to see the spring birds? It's not exactly something I remember you making a habit of.

It was a task meant to occupy during the period of time there were only a small number of people on the station and no hostiles. It is a return to routine.
