One, luckily, missed the whole Cortana shooting business. She was still uncomfortable taking off her helmet even around her fellow Spartans -- they weren't her Spartans for the most part -- and she steps into the meeting area fully clad in armor.
She doesn't join Carter on the couch, and instead chooses a corner that was not entirely secluded from the rest of the room, but enough away from the others that she had a nice personal space bubble filled up. One's social skills, even for a woman trained to be a leader, were still considerably lacking and she wasn't entirely prepared to give this briefing.
She had arrived shortly after her teammate, and came dressed for the occasions. Matching tuxedos at around a thousand pounds but surprisingly light on their feet. Effective for slinking over to your boss' side with hardly an noise.
"You know the walls are already built with a support structure, ma'am. No need to help them in that endeavor."
Black-Two, unlike her superior, had grown more accustomed to life outside of Black Team. From Two's perspective, this may have been because she wasn't the one in charge no matter what the circumstance. Evie had gone from top dog to bottom of the totem pole overnight. Two sympathized, though best she could do was fail at jokes.
One lifts her head as Two approaches, automatically shifting to make room for her, and then resettles. She crosses her arms across her chest, tilts her head in a way that communicates vague amusement. Sacrosanct had been a little rough on her; going from a respected leader to a grunt soldier was never easy. It was a bit different when it was just her and Jorge, but now as their ranks swell, she feels a little more isolated and distant.
"Was just testing to see how sturdy it is, Two. I see you're deciding to help anyway."
She nudges her sister playfully, then rolls right into business.
"Two, I'm going to need you to help fill in some details on what happened on that moon."
Two nudges back before the serious business nature of the situation takes over. Two leans her head back against the wall, arms crossed much like One's as she looks as contemplative as much as a helmet can emote.
"Hmm, I can share with Carter and the others what I know, but we both know how asleep at the wheel I was up until a certain point. Any specific we're fishing for?"
Two tensed through her armor, evident by the tighter grip she had on her arms crossed tight over her chest, "Dammit, this would have gone so much more smoothly if we were up to full strength. Dammit.."
"I need the specifics on what that monitor did to you before you went lights out. Four and Three aren't here to help fill in the details on what went on in their end, and we need a better idea of what this thing can do."
One's head bows a little at that, silently emphasizing with Two. One's always been prepared about the loss of her brothers and sisters, but actually having to deal with it? She wasn't coping well, and she wasn't saying a word about it. It was best that she didn't burden the others with it.
"They'll make it here when they do. For now, we just got to work without them."
Two leaned her head back far enough to tap on the wall, she then proceeded to do this a few times. Frustration as she tried to remember as many of the details as possible.
"Not much to say, to be honest. Little bastard did something to my HUD, so when I thought I was shooting at an elite," Two suddenly found the inside of her suit cold and she shivered visibly, "I was really shooting a friendly.
My guess is that's how he operates until push comes to shove. You know? Gets in your head, make you do the fighting for him."
One lets that sink in, quietly, because Four's recount of the situation matched up with that. After a moment, she nods, then turns to clasp her hand over Two's shoulder.
"It's alright, Two. I'll handle the rest."
Which meant she didn't really need to talk if she didn't want to.
"We're as vulnerable in our armor as we are outside it in regards to this thing. We should probably focus on creating some kind of firewall so this can't happen again."
Two grabbed onto One's hand while it was still on her shoulder and said in a quieted voice, "You know, I really worry about you sometimes."
Eye contact through helmets was difficulty, but Two’s were practically drilling through her’s to meet her superior’s, her sister’s. Sometimes Two just found staring One down and effective approach when it came to getting through to her.
“Maybe the rest is where she comes in,” when saying ‘she,’ Two jerked her head in Cortana’s direction.
One's hand tightens on Two's shoulder reflexively, but inwardly she recoils somewhat. She was never one of the most emotive members of Black Team, choosing instead to keep her feelings controlled. She wasn't like Four -- she forgave, she moved on -- but she wasn't expressive.
"I'm fine, Two." As fine as she can be. One's head turns to look at Cortana at Two's gesture and she makes a thoughtful noise. "Probably, Two. An AI's probably our best bet dealing with it. Missing Iona a lot right now."
Two would catch herself thinking if maybe she spent more time worrying about One then actually talking to her despite there being an unspoken understanding between Black Team that issues were best not intentionally resurfaced once buried. With some hesitation, she let go of One's shoulders.
"Iona," Two crossed her arms again and hmm'd, "that's right I almost forgot about her. Another Smart AI playing on our team would come in handy right about now. Do you think Cortana knows her? I mean, you ever think AI stay on friendly terms with each other? I've always wondered about that."
"I doubt smart AI are all close and family-like like us IIs. Iona doesn't exactly seem to fit in with say, Cortana or if we're talking AI in general, Deja. I doubt it."
She crosses her arms, looking at Cortana and then at Carter, hmming quietly.
"Noble Two should probably get in on that. It's beneficial to the whole group."
