Although Nepeta had grown accustomed to operating in the false daylight here, her natural instincts still led her to prefer the night. It was safer, easier to navigate. Comforting in ways that the sun couldn't do, benign as this one may be.

When it became a little darker (not quite pitch black, so she could watch the pretty sunset) she stuffed her pockets full of the items she'd wanted to bring and set off for where Nemesis was being held. She'd never had anyone visit her when she was injured besides a worried Pounce, but Nepeta knew that friends always made things more bearable. Besides, she was more than a little worried about him herself.

Soon enough there's a little cattroll in the medbay, coat pockets overburdened with suspiciously shaped items as she stood on her tiptoes in an attempt to glean whether or not he was still awake.

At the moment? Yes.

And beginning to get bored, even with the situation. Recharge isn't much of an option; he tried that, then promptly forced himself awake as soon as the memories rehashed themselves in to dreams.

Maybe later, he'll try it. Not now.

There's movement out of the corner of his optics; Nemesis follows it, then resets his optics as he starts to push himself up.

"...Nepeta?"

Oh, he's up! Nepeta's face splits into a grin as she scurries closer. She'd been a little worried about what to do if he was sleeping - leave the squirrel and come back? But that didn't matter now. He seemed to be doing well enough, although of course looks could be deceiving.

"Hi! Are you a little better now?"

...odd, but not precisely unwelcome. Nemesis lowers a hand, the invitation clear enough; she's not small enough for him to cup in one hand, but still small enough unless she wants to try and climb on the berth herself.

"...mostly."

"That's good! I was purretty worried about you." She takes the invitation without hesitation, more than happy to avoid having to clamber up onto that thing on her own. An expert vertical climber she was not.

"I brought some stuff! I figured it'd be good to have some things besides talking, hee hee."

Her weight is easy to lift up. He sets her down on the berth itself, tilting his head slightly at her words.

"...such as?"

"Coloring books!"

She settles herself down neatly, legs splayed out childishly as she begins to pull out the myriad of things packed away in her trench coat. It's all very exciting, considering Nepeta had only recently become aware of the existence of books intended solely for coloring. Markers and crayons roll out of her pockets as she dislodges the larger items.

"I've got purrincesses and earth jungle animals, and airplanes...um, and I brought some shiny rocks and a squirrel too."

Coloring books.

They're awful small. Nemesis decides not to point this out to Nepeta, as to not hurt her feelings. The squirrel, however, gets a tiny poke.

He also decides to throw it at Dug, if he decides to visit. It should be a sufficient distraction.

"...thank you?"

"It's no purroblem! I didn't even know they had something like this until a few days ago, so I thought it would be nice to bring ofur. I'll leave the really purretty pictures that I do with you, ok?"

She decides on the jungle animals book for the time being, flipping it open to a random page as a good start. For a moment Nepeta regards the animal with the critical eye only a child artist can have, then grabs a handful of markers and holds them up to Nemesis.

"Do you want sparkly ones or scented? I've got both."

Not for the first time, Nemesis has no idea how to react with Nepeta, and feels very uncomfortable for the situation. He half-reaches down, before pausing, looking at the size of the markers and then his hand...

...and then shaking his head. This isn't going to work.

Not like this.

"Let me see if something's working, first."

He didn't bother scanning the holomatter plugin, but now's a good time to test it as any...a few seconds later, there's an odd shimmering in front of him, solidifying in to a human shape.

Nepeta starts, although she looks more fascinated than anything else. She'd been under the assumption that he could only do robot and car, but it seemed that this was incorrect. Not for the first time she reflected on the fact that she had the coolest friends ever oh god.

"Oh my gosh, I didn't know you could do that!"

To be fair, he couldn't always. Nemesis's red optics dim almost to black as he switches his focus from his main systems' to his holomatter's. The man tilts his head, blinking once to reset his vision and refocus it on the now near-size Nepeta.

"It's a recent upgrade."

"That's so neat! I like it." For a moment she drops the markers into her lap to clap appreciatively. Technology may not be her forte by any stretch of the imagination, but Nepeta knew a good trick when she saw one.

"So! Sparkly or scented?"

Reply

knight4darkness November 21 2011, 04:50:06 UTC
...oh. Right. Now he actually has to take the markers and mimic her.

"...sparkly?" She's always seemed to have a better olfactory sense than he has, anyway.

"Good choice! They're impawsibly cute." Nemesis receives a wide grin of approval for his pick as she hands over the markers and a coloring book (princesses, since as the sick person here he gets dibs on the best one).

"If you run out of ink I've got some crayons, so don't worry about purressing too hard or anything."

Maybe if he acts sick, he can get out of this...no, better save it if she goes worse. He can deal with this.

He thinks.

Coloring books...and these are colors. To put in them. He stares at it blankly, before opening up the pages, moving through them slowly.

No really. What is he doing.
