It had been a while since he'd spent actual time with Skyfire, since Soundwave got back. Most of his time had been sulking, freaking out, making up with his boyfriend, and then trying to keep things normal and under control. It was difficult to avoid making mistakes, when he had little idea as to how he made the mistakes to begin with.
One of the best ways to avoid trouble was to bury himself in his work. No one could be upset with him if he was just working on science experiments. And it did keep his desire to go down to the planet below, at bay. He can't think about killing every human down there when he's busy working on something else that requires proper attention.
So as an added distraction he had called up Skyfire, asked for his assistance in gathering bugs in the swamp. Perhaps he could create another batch of Insecticons like he did in the City.
Send them to track down the humans.
No. He needs to behave.
