Yes. What do you need?

He's not in armour and has no intention of suiting up for this. It'd make it... impersonal, in a way. And he's pretty sure Thane deserves better than that.

Nothing too terribly important anyway. Thane sets his rifle onto his back and heads off to find a teleporter in order to meet up with Thom in Zone 04.
His instincts say it's probably bad news. He hopes that's just paranoia.
What do you think? Irikah laughs cruelly at him. When's the last time you ever heard good news?

He's sitting hunched forward, hands laced between his knees. He does, however, look up on Thane's arrival. To an eye as practiced as that of the drell's, it's probably obvious that he hasn't done a lot of sleeping recently. He's got his fair share of bruises, too, vivid splashes of colour against his skin that he's obviously unconcerned about.
His posture shifts and he drapes one arm across the back of the bench, giving Thane a critical look.
"Rough couple days?" he asks, tone half-gentle.

The appearance does concern him. No one spoke of any fight. Was it personal? If so, why? Would it be bad for him to pry?
Perhaps after Thom speaks to him. Hard to say.
"It may be unneeded of me to say, but are you all right?"

"Yeah that's. Sort of why I'm here, in a really roundabout way. Carter's gone AWOL. And... Six. Tension ran a little high after the fact and Four and I had a disagreement. Trust me, you think this is bad, you should see the state of our kitchen."
He shrugs, but the flippancy is forced. "I'm-- sorry about Six. I know you two were close. She'd have said good-bye, if she could have."

For a moment, Thane stands there, his gaze extending out beyond Thom and the teleporter, far beyond the land and into nothing. He cannot even pay heed to Irikah, the murmurs in his head, and the things he experiences.
What weighs most now is that Six is gone.
A lump forms in his throat. Friends come and go, but she was something special to him. In what ways precisely, he never tried to define because he is slowly going mad, but he knows that Six is someone he cared for very much. Someone who knew about him in ways other cannot understand. As an assassin, as a friend, as someone he confided in more often than others.
"I see," Thane finally says, slowly sinking back into his feet. The Disconnection feels stronger than ever.
"Thank you for informing me."
He doesn't know what else to say.

But he also has no idea how to proceed. He sure as hell knows he's not handling losing his CO and one of his best friends - someone he considered a sister - in almost the same stroke. Fighting with Emile had been the closest he'd let himself come to grieving, but as far as bloodletting went it hadn't helped. Losing people never got easier. In fact, each successive M- or KIA seemed to weigh on him a little more ( ... )

Still, even with that in mind, sharing is... complicated.
"She is gone," Thane tells Thom softly. "I cannot change that and neither can you."
He folds his arms behind his back, closing his eyes momentarily. "So yes. That is it."
Before he loses himself into his memories. His mind. Her.

"Do you even fucking care?"
Unfair. Yeah, well, this entire bullshit afterlife is about the same. Who's going to be next? Kat? O'Brien? Thane himself?
He's so angry he actually feels cold. Distantly, his brain registers it as a symptom of shock.

It isn't until Thom speaks that Thane finds something in his mind snaps.
A fist smashes into the Spartan's face, cracking into his nose. A hand snakes up to his throat and Thane leans in to hiss into Thom's ear.
"More than you can imagine. Do not ever question that again, Seven!"

The pain doesn't even register - he's had his nose broken before - and one of the lovely side-affects of being a Spartan is the fact that adrenal response is both immediate and intensified, comparative to a baseline human.
You're not the only cowboy that kills people for a living, bro.
Thom grabs his wrist and by his grip, it's obvious that he won't have much commpunction about crushing it if the drell tries to choke him.
"Or you'll what? Shut me out? A little late for that."
Reply
"Do you want me to tell you that the news is devastating? That, quite honestly, I do not know how I will function without her here? I did not think I would have to say such things. What is really bothering you, or is that something you will shut me out on?"
Thane eventually releases his hold on Thom; he expects him to do the same.
"I believe you and I are done here."

And then he's so disgusted with himself for the thought that he lets go of Thane like he'd been burned.
"Yeah," he says. And for a moment he honestly intends to leave it at that. He shoves his hands in his pockets and he just gives Thane a hard, frustrated look.
All he has to do is walk away.
There's a line drawn in the sand between what's right and what's necessary, and he's always been sort of bad at toeing it.
"I-- Jesus, Thane, I'm sorry." That crack to the nose is starting to register as the dull throb of a headache, and he shakes his head to clear his vision.

The drell takes a step back from Thom, furthering the distance between them. He looks upon the Spartan briefly, then turns away.
"She was important to me. More than words can say. I didn't think I needed to tell you that."
A brief pause.
"See to it you have your nose fixed."
Thane places a hand to his head, his body trembling a moment; then he shakes his head and slowly makes his retreat from Thom.
