DARK FUTURE MEME
[We know who it is we want. We have a collective mind.
We don't miss a single step. We're always right behind.
We know we serve someone else. We have swallowed our pride.
We march to this tune of loss. We take this in our stride.]

Name: Jade Harley
Current location: Asphodel
Current Physical Appearance: Pretty much the same -- a little older (23!), less lanky and more filled out. Somewhere around nineteen she got her hair stuck in a machine part and was forced to cut it extremely short and choppy, almost shaving it in parts. By now it's grown out to chin-length, but it took forever. Injuries are common for her, and though she had some scars before, Jade's Danger Magnet has attracted even more.
Summary: Well, okay, so maybe robots weren't that good. It didn't take long for Jade to figure out that Hypatia was a bad person -- she honestly didn't want to be associated with anything that she would suggest, and at the first mention of escaping from the Station to the planet below, she took it. Jade set herself up as a medic of sorts; after years of attempting to fight and trying to kill, she wanted to devote herself to the art of healing. She's not the most mechanical or technological of doctors, often relying on traditional methods because they work better (and she ( ... )

The girl was back again. Nepeta frowned to herself as she sat in the safety of the dark tunnel and watched her, waiting for the moment when she'd leave. She didn't like it when she came around, even though she always brought delicious meat - something about the things she said made Nepeta's head and chest hurt.

She wished she would come in a little closer. Maybe if she did she wouldn't feel so bad about taking a swipe at her. Because obviously that's why she hasn't tried to eat the girl yet. Of course. And she never said anything in response to the frequent pleas, because really what was there to say? The girl made no sense.

Jade came to talk to Nepeta a lot. At least, she thought it was Nepeta -- most people worried that Jade would get eaten, but she knew it wouldn't happen. She was always careful to sit far enough away that whatever her friend had turned into wouldn't eat her, but close enough to be able to talk.

"Nepeta? I wish you could answer me, talking to myself is kind of boring..." Jade sighed, leaning her head on her hands. This happened a lot; she would share her day to day stories with the troll who had previously been one of her best friends. From stories about Dave to how Karkat was doing, Jade listed off facts aimlessly in the hopes that Nepeta would answer.

Nepeta.

That word in particular always tugged the most painfully at her consciousness. It was a word with no meaning, a gibberish sound that the girl would always bring up. What could it possibly mean? Whatever it was, Nepeta didn't like the way it made her feel.

Maybe if she said something about it, told her that whatever a Nepeta was it wasn't here, she'd finally leave her alone. She'd miss the meat of course, but it was certainly worth stopping the funny feelings in her head.

"No Nepetas here. Go away." Her voice is rough and a little breathy from disuse, which must make the way it floats out of the cave even more disconcerting. Nepeta still isn't sure this is the best idea after all the days of silence, but she wanted the girl to leave leave leave.

"But that's you! You're Nepeta, that's your name!" Jade was excited; in all the times that she'd talked to her friend, not once had she spoken before. "I'm not going to go away, because you're my friend. I'm going to stay right here."

Name, friend. More words that prickled at the back of her skull but were in her present state meaningless. It seemed like speaking out had been the wrong choice of action after all - the girl just seemed more determined than ever to hang around. Maybe she should just explain the problem?

"I don't know any of the things you're talking about."

Jade paused, wanting to step forward. Every inch of her said yes, but caution held her back. She could die, she would be torn to pieces by someone who was once her best friend.

"You did, or...you do. Somewhere, I think!"

"You're wrong. Go away."

Jade was right to keep her distance. This conversation was quickly disturbing Nepeta, to the point where she wouldn't think twice about taking a swipe at the girl if that would make her shut up.
