[Really, she should have been more surprised when a man in a hoodie with a nondescript shadow-creature riding him like a pony came bursting around the corner. Mostly, though, she was just annoyed by the feedback.]
What the hell?
[They were riding around her like she was home base or something, all screeching and clicking like it was a game. If she'd been able to flip the lights on and off she would have, as it was, she tried to replicate the end result by pulling out her flashlight and flicking it at them like one would an unruly pet.]
[ The pair came screeching to a halt, the man parked warily in front of Shepard, the creature on his shoulders starting to burrow back into it's BDU and kevlar den. The two were spooked into submission, their clicking ceasing as they just stared at her. ]
[ The shadow is rather frantically attempting to burrow back inside the Terminator's gear, although in its panic is seems to have forgotten how to make itself small enough to get inside. The result is like watching a large dog get its head jammed inside a cereal box. ]
[Shepard stared and lowered her flashlight as the pair froze in front of her. She'd seen the same look on pets that were caught doing something they shouldn't have. The shadow creature was making a lot of noise, trying to cram itself into the hoodie and Shepard ignored it.]
Go play over there. [Shepard jerks her thumb at an open area, away from her and any form of plate glass window.] And don't hurt yourselves.
[The black thing was still frantically trying to climb into the hoodie. It looked ready to start chewing its own head off to escape. Shepard leveled a flat stare and pointed at it.] Especially you.
[ The giant OPs guy who had been doing an involuntary ants-in-my-pants salsa dance as his shadowy compadre jerked him around trying to burrow, finally managed to still when it got a hold of it's collar. ]
...
[ It replied to Shepard in a low, groaning hiss. ]
[Shepard stares for a few minutes and just blinks. She considers commenting, decides against it, and just continues to stare in silence.]
