Let's see.
The junkyard you showed up in has, apparently, everything, if you can find it. So if you can't get something the "normal" way (normal for here, anyway), you can look there.
Death isn't permanent anymore. You could get philosophical and say that maybe a teleporter resurrection creates a clone as opposed to the actual person, but there's no way to tell, so there's no point wondering.
You need work credits to get most things. They're not spent like money, it's more like, you earn things by having them? Anyway, there's a job board, you can earn them that way. You only need one to get your own room and decent stuff.
There's apparently a tendency for the station to pick up several people from the same... world, I guess? You probably already know that, since you found your friend. It's no guarantee that more will show up, of course, but it's more likely than "normal", considering there doesn't seem to be any limits to what kind of person it can bring in.
