[ The feed flicks on to video, clearly set up to show the area with a certain degree of forethought. Those paying attention might recognize the area as Skyfire’s lab, although a certain amount of floorspace has been cleared for what looks like a nest. It looks like it might have been man made at one point, considering that there are bits of what look like baby blue blankets poking out here and there, but for the most part it’s all sticky-looking, shiny black resin.
Part of the shiny black stuff shifts, and it becomes apparent that it’s actually Grid, but then there’s movement under her and... those... don’t look like xenomorphs or facehuggers... ]
[And Skyfire pops into the frame, his back to the screen. He walks over and strokes Grid’s head.]
Can you let me see them, Grid? Just move a little to the left. I want to show them to everyone.
[ There’s a quiet hiss from Grid and she scoots over just enough for something small and leathery to pop a head out and blink curiously at the camera, a soft croak setting off a series of similiar, albeit more muffled, noises from underneath her. ]
This is better?
Yes, thank you. Can I pick him up?
[ Skyfire is certain to ask her before even getting close. He knows full well how organic mothers can get about their young. ]
[ She moves back a bit more with a huff, and the leathery thing starts wriggling free. ]
Yes. Be careful.
Of course.
[ He gives her a soft nod before lifting one of the small creatures out from under her and holding it close to the camera, cupped in his hands. It appears to be a small... velociraptor. In fact that’s exactly what it is. ]
Well this has got to be the most unusual midwife situation, but Grid’s whole clutch finished hatching. They’re all alive and healthy. Two male and three female raptors. You’re free to ask Grid if she wants visitors. I’m fine with anyone stopping by to see them. Just don’t press her on the issue. She’s rather touchy right now.
[ The tiny reptile squawks and he gently places it back in the next, thanking Grid quietly. ]
