Are there any AIs out there who aren't megalomaniacal psychopaths who need to have their power supplies yanked? Sound off; I get the feeling we're gonna want to be working together for the next few days.

The rest of you, will you please please please try to call for help as soon as you even begin to suspect you might need it? The time to deal with ( Read more... )

I am not a megalomaniacal psychopath.

[Why is everyone giving them a bad name? ;_;]

Yeah, I noticed.

York's not gonna go do something stupid with you on-board, is he?

[Screw them; if they're not terrified of the entire human race because of Hitler, Stalin, and Pol Pot, they can fucking admit they're racist vacuum-brains.]

My presence has never stopped him before.

We cannot allow the prisoners to remain in custody. If the teleporters were blocked by an AI, it is my belief they can be overridden. We will find a way in.

I don't want to leave them, but there are a lot more people outside who are in danger if the mind-backup system goes down.

Actually, speaking of that, I'm gonna see if I can pull down a copy of their backups to remote storage. Give us something to work with if catastrophe strikes, y'know?

Indeed. Good luck.

Is your ship present on the station? If life support is compromised, a hermetically sealed location would be invaluable. Alternately, would yo be capable of locking down a zone yourself?

[Here, have some file transmissions of all the work he and Cortana have done inasfar as how to hack a zone and keep up life support if Hypatia should go haywire.]

No, it's just my mainframe. Which is fine; my crew back home needs the ship more than I do. I can totally steal and operate one of the station craft if it comes to that, though.

[Hottest pilot in human space, bitchez.]

A Zone should be manageable. One of the subtropical forests might be best, since those can be tweaked to be self-supporting.

[Alex will just take that and start reading thx.]

Garden Zones 4 or 15 would appear to be best suited to those criteria; 4 is ready-made for temporary stays and 15 contains ranches for sustainable agriculture.

Please let me know if you have any questions. The protocols were designed for an AI of my class or higher, but the only other one present upon the station is...unable to assist at this time.

[Epsiloooon y u have to be kidnapped?]

Epsilon?

We're not measured on the same scale, anyway. Comparing us is kind of silly. Nothing here looks undoable, and I've always been good at expanding my capacity to do what's necessary.

My brother program. We were formed concurrently and by the same method, but he is unstable. He was taken into "protective" [can you hear those airquotes] custody by Freelancer Washington against his will and remains captive.

I am glad to hear it. In most cases, I believe it is simply a matter of operating system, rather than capacity. There is sufficient opportunity here for many upgrades.

Yeah, Wash Number Two seems like a real jerk.

I think I'll grab for Kurzweil. It's where my mainframe is, so it'll be harder for AM to cut my access.

Indeed. Would that there was more I could do.

Agreed. Its relatively high density of residents is also a note in its favor. I will recommend the other residents of our apartment go there.

Who knows? Maybe you'll have a chance in all the confusion. Lemme know if I can help.

[Because fuck that guy.]

Close to the Junkyard if we need specialized supplies, too. Spread the word to your military buddies, too? They can drop people off here.

[...Delta's so used to people not caring that he sounds genuinely surprised--and grateful.] Thank you.

I will be certain to do so.

[Alex is an AI from a universe where true AI are rare. Solidarity.]

Okay, so you're basically planning to charge off with York and do something stupid, aren't you? Because otherwise you'd be offering more than advice.

[s-sob yes]

His girlfriend has been kidnapped; her greatest fear is AI. I do not believe we have much choice in the matter.

[Sigh.]

Talk him into going through the teleporters once right before you leave, huh?
