Video.

[The feed opens with Shepard sitting, arms crossed, in her favorite nondescript room on Sacrosanct. Given how long she's been hanging back off the network, there's good odds that most of the civilians on the station have never seen her (and therefore, can't identify her)...so it's a little curious that she's just decided to post a video feed ( Read more... )

Why is it always shooting people with you?

Robots? Not people.

And shooting? I don't argue with results. Bullets get results.

He thinks, speaks, has his own mind, emotions, he's pretty much the definition of a person!

And bullets get dead people, which is fine if your intended results are murder.

All those little criteria for person-status? Programmed into him. By a real person.

And bullets, in this case, just turn him back to scrap.

Now, if you're going to continue to whine about murdering robots all day, this conversation is over.

This is like when Data had to get recognized as a person on Star Trek. Except instead of an uptight admiral you're a space marine with an itchy trigger finger.

Just because someone is a robot doesn't make them not a person. It's like saying that, I dunno, Miss Martian isn't a person because she's from Mars.

I don't know what the hell you're babbling about now, but stow it. I'd bet money I've dealt with more robots than you'll ever see, and trust me.

They aren't people.

Aliens? It's hit or miss, but I'm sure you're well on the way to figuring that one out all on your own.

Whatever. I give up.

And I've dealt with more robots than you might think.

[HANGING UP NOW. You are so infuriating, Shepard.]

[Oh geez she forgot to have The Talk with you...]

Murder is a necessary result to strive for on occasion.

[She promised she wasn't going to meddle that much anymore, but Jaime....]

What? No it isn't!

[He is so disappoint right now, Kanaya. Even though he know you kill people.]

Of course it is. What if the issue at hand cannot be contained and poses a threat to every single person around you. Such as the one we are presently faced with, as well as the Demon, while he was here.

[Eridan is a fucker and je ne regrette rien.]

You find another way. There's always another way. You don't have to resort to killing to get things done!

[He is pretty adamant about this.]

I'm sure many of the situations that have taken place in your vicinity or have involved you always seem to include some other way out, be it imprisonment or exile, but sometimes there is no other way and exterminating the life of another.

[So much more adamant about this point of view. The more time she's spent on this station, the less murder looks like a permanent solution to the problem, but the more it looks like a solution.]

I refuse to believe that. It makes everything I do feel. . .meaningless. I won't let myself kill, especially here.

I fail to see how what you are doing is meaningless, simply because you refuse to kill. It is a solution in some situations, not all.

Because it's not my place to decide who lives and dies because of what they did.

Why not?

[This is the voice of legit confusion.]

If someone does you wrong, who better than yourself to kill them? Other than a legislacerator and His Grand Tyranny, I suppose. They are rather effective...
