[ The video clicks on, to show Angela sitting at a table. She has a stack of colorful blocks in front of her, built to resemble a little town. She looks like something's bothering her. She huffs a sigh. ]So, let me get this straight. There isn't a single other person here from Fa'Diel? No one else here has heard about the Mana Goddess? Or the Mana ( Read more... )

[he takes a long while before responding. even then, there's a bit of white noise before he speaks;]

Some have things familiar to them.

Others...are not so lucky, it seems.

Some of the people here seem to be familiar with all the... teck-no-logi there is. Nothing here seems to be powered by mana though, unless I brought it along with me.

Technology.

What is mana?

That, yes.

Mana is the life force of all things in Fa'Diel. It's also the way magic works, usually by channeling it through the elemental spirits. If you're really good, though, you can channel it into things or use it without any help from the spirits... but no one's been that adept in a while.

[logic; mana = spark energy = tangible, mutable spark energy?....trippy.]

I have never heard of such a power.

It's a circular thing, like a big storehouse of energy. When new creatures come into being, they tap into the cycle of mana, and when they die, that mana goes back into the pool for other creatures to come into being. It's basically on loan from the Goddess herself, she's the original source of it all.

There are supposedly things in Fa'Diel with higher concentrations of mana, though. Like Mana stones. There's a legend about a sword with immense power the Goddess used herself. It could just be a bunch of dragon poo, but I'm hoping there's at least some truth to it.

[DEFINITELY sounds like sparks and the Allspark. hn. not his favorite subject.]

And it has replaced technology?

I don't think we've ever had technology. There are a few things... some professor guy has been talking about making metal golems, and one of the teachers at Geo wants to go into space, so I guess they'd probably be interested in the things here... but that's all pretty new and weird by Fa'Diel's standards. My mother's even looked into some of it, but nothing they've done has been any use so far.

Hn.

[other than that initial curiosity, there's only so much interest here...]

You will grow used to this, then.

I guess so. I don't have much of a choice otherwise.

How long have you been here?
