[He'd tried his hardest to forget it. He didn't want to know what happened, he wished he could just forget he'd died in the first place, and that whatever had transpired was so horrific that his CO didn't want him to know. Jun was okay with not knowing.]

[The problem was the way everything was sharper, night time was no longer a shroud of darkness, and his simple reflection in any mirror was so markedly, disturbingly different that he was constantly reminded about it. He'd died. Again.]

[It had been days, edging into a week or so now, since he'd walked out of the teleporter to find his eyes had gone feline, adding a cat's ocular sensitivities on top of his already sharpened Spartan eyesight. Time helped, friends helped, the picnic itself had turned out to offer just the right kind of mental shift that, if only for a brief moment, gave him some respite.]

[Maybe he could deal with this.]

[So he'd gotten back in a routine, and sat down with the intentions of working on his hacking skills, as per Kat's standing instructions. Something simple, a little warm up, and he was soon shifting his way through the Spartan Base's security cams. He wasn't looking for anything in particular, and nothing much really stood out as good gossip, until he found a feed of Kat in the halls, dripping blood]

[He froze as he watched, unsure just what it was he was seeing, but then he came into frame -- he didn't remember any of this -- and he couldn't turn away, couldn't bring himself to turn it off, until the end, until she'd unceremoniously shoved his corpse up against the wall and wandered off without the least bit remorse. He hit pause, smacking a random button, trying to keep his breathing even as he tried to process it all.]

[He couldn't. He couldn't handle it. Running almost entirely on instinct, he cued up a barely encrypted audio feed to Carter]

Hey -- Boss. I -- [What could he say? What did he want to say? He couldn't think, his head filled with the sickly repeating image of Kat punching determindly into his faceplate. There's no way for him to hide the wavering horror from his voice.] -- could I have a word?

noble three, noble one
