OO1 ][ VOICE. ][ BACKDATED TO BEFORE THE AGE EVENT.

Jul 16, 2011 21:10

[ Things Hank McCoy did not expect to do today: fall out of a rift in space-time and almost break his face on the hulking debris in what seems to be... a junkyard, after suffering a emotionally scarring transformation at his own hands. (He'd been sneaking to the airbase one minute, and the next, had... landed on all fours in a pile of trash? Yeah, ( Read more... )

-- Professor?

[ ALL HOPE IS NOT LOST. SOMEONE HE KNOWS. A MUTANT SOMEONE.

And don't worry, Charles, Hank is hanging off every last word in the hopes that he can apply it to his current situation. Things not making sense? Apply SCIENCE. Always. Anyway, what you're saying is definitely lending credence to his burgeoning "inter-dimensional space-time nexus" theory, especially the bit about non-Earth civilizations; so he just. Nods, smiling, even though Charles can't see him. ]

I, uh, haven't used one yet. What kind of difficulties?

In the -- well, not quite flesh. In the vid-screen, perhaps.

[he taps the screen with a sort of. Ironic expression.]

People are finding themselves aged to different points in their lives, it seems. Many are children, some are older.

[ dkgjshdfk this technology. This. This is. Hank is going to take it apart and see how it works as soon as he finds someplace to do it in.

-- he pauses at Charles' answer. ]

Maybe it's a... molecular discrepancy. Professor -- do these teleporters take our existing matter, atomize it, and rearrange it on the other side?

[McCoy? But that was his chemistry teacher's name!

...His chemistry teacher wasn't blue and fuzzy.

Kurt's voice is clearly excited, though for the moment his video still shows his hologram self.]

Um, hello? Is this on? We do not know what year it is!

[ Oh! Surprise German accent. Hank considers the wearable for a moment, fascinated (more Earth residents!) and then replies: ]

Do we know our coordinates? Are we in an identified solar system?

We are not! It is kind of exciting. [Danger? What danger? No, this is clearly an adventure.]

...I do not mean to be rude, but are you related to my chemistry teacher? He is Dr. McCoy in Bayville.

[ It is kind of exciting, but. Well. It also reeks of suspicious New Wave SF fiction, so Hank's wary. ]

Bayville? I'm sorry; I don't think so. I worked at Langley, Virgina -- and more recently Westchester, New York. I don't have any close relatives in the area.

[ McCoy is a common last name, after all. :|a ]

[ Oh, yay.

Even if his hearing is exceptionally good, he wants to make sure that this voice is the one he thinks it is. ]

I'm afraid the answer to that question would be quite meaningless. The station clock is, unfortunately, still more or less tuned to the calendar system of a planet that I doubt you're familiar with.

[ ... what even -- is that -- no. Can't be. Who. He. It's -- okay, let's just answer cautiously and see what happens? ]

... The planet -- would that be Asphodel?

[ He... actually listened to the hologram sob. ]

Ah, no, in fact. I was referring to the planet where this station would have been originally manufactured. The time it keeps here correlates to that place, which of course provides little reference to the rest of us.

[ 2009. Wow. A big leap. Hank leans forward a little, intrigued. ]

That seems to be the general consensus. I'd like to know more, but I don't think the answers are going to be forthcoming.

Have you met any of the planet's natives?

You and me both, I guess. I'm sure there's a lot to see, but we'll have to get acclimated first.
