home for the holidays
I have an unexpected bonus gift this Xmas--my boss said I didn't have to work unless I wanted to, and he'd rather I didn't want to! So, I'm off for the next two weeks, basically unpaid, though I will have a paycheck for this coming week, as I worked Friday, and will get paid for at least Xmas.
In other good news, I'm done Christmas shopping! I got the last bit yesterday, and also delivered gift baskets to Hap, Jay & Brenda, and Kermit and Frieda, having driven through the fog Thursday night to take one to Bryan. Got myself stuck in the little ditch running along Bryan's driveway, but he was able to get me out and back on the road, for which I was extremely grateful! Having learned a lesson from that, I pulled into just the end of Hap's driveway, and still got stuck! The judicious application of cat litter (we'd come from shopping) and horsepower liberated us from a visit by the towing service, which would be cheaper since mom got AAA. The remaining two stops involved stopping on the road with the flashers on, and walking the baskets on from there.
Several warm days have reduced the bulk of the ice from the last storm, and tonight, we got four or five inches of snow! It's light and fluffy though, and mom and I decided to stay home tomorrow, and do laundry and get the few things we forgot yesterday, on Monday.
