He was ill and was affected by his illness. If you think about it, it's similar to when people are cursed. They're not held responsible the day after. He wouldn't have done it if he'd been well. I know that for a fact.

It is the same concept, you're right. And if you know that for a fact then I think you'll eventually be able to look past all of this, all that's happened. It's one of those things that takes time.

Chief Beckett doesn't see it like that and I doubt she ever will. She's holding a grudge against an unwell man.

It's hard here in the city. Law and disorder don't mix very well. This City's filled with disorder. What worked back home doesn't always work here. That's why I moved on. There's no... sense to anything. She's in a tough spot though... just like you are only she's on the other side of the fence.

Maybe you should let a doctor see it. When you come see Xander get it checked out.

I know she is. I think that's why I haven't really pushed to have him released. I don't think she likes me very much as it is.

When I was little my dad was a cop. I was at the station sometimes and sometimes his buddies would come over to our house. But they were always so... curt, I guess is a good word for it. When I first got into law enforcement, I finally got it. People in that profession they... while they have the best intentions usually, they tend to get one-track minded. They get tunnel vision on doing what they think is good and right and will keep people safe. And that means sometimes they forget to look up at the people around them. All to say I don't think it's anything against you.

I was the one that turned him in, but I was still considered a suspect for a time. I don't appreciate that.

My face... it feels like it's burning. Like... a sunburn, but I haven't been out long enough lately for that.

Yeah that's not a good feeling, being a suspect. Been there. But it's also standard procedure for anyone involved with the suspect. Like I said, they're shooting for law in a place of chaotic disorder. Their intentions are good, the two just don't mix very well, like oil and water.
