Title: Sins of the Father
Author: singoutloud25
Pairing/Character: JunSeung, Doojoon, Kikwang, Jiyoon, Minho, Taemin
Rating: R
Genre: AU. Drama, Romance
Summary: The lives of these six young men would now forever be changed. They will become what they once feared and hated. They will become violent, dangerous, aggressive, and one will even become a murderer. They will become feared, hated, strong, and powerful. Some will grow to hate themselves and some will become dead and numb inside. Some will lose hope and some will never dare to dream.
Author's Notes: The point that I hope to convey throughout this story is that true friendship (a bond of love and trust and faith) is so strong that it can withstand anything. That the bond of true friendship (even when you are pulled away from and forced to leave the ones you love) will always remain, even when you feel that all is lost, that bond still remains deep within you.

Chapter 5

“There’s some things you can’t speak of, but at night you live it all again. You wouldn’t be shattered on the floor now, if only you had seen what you know now then.” - Taylor Swift  “Innocent"

Hyunseung walked around the corner and in to the alleyway where he was supposed to meet Kikwang and Jiyoon. He saw the two of them in the middle of the alleyway, Kikwang with a cigarette hanging out of the side of his mouth and Jiyoon leaning against the wall, one of her heeled boots lightly kicking Kikwang in the stomach.

“I will kick the shit out of you if you say another word Kikwang.” Jiyoon gave Kikwang a shove in the stomach with her heel.

Kikwang laughed and pulled the cigarette out of his mouth, exhaling the smoke to the side of Jiyoon’s face. “Fine. Deny it all you want Ji, but we both know you want to fuck him.”

“Who does she want to fuck?” Hyunseung asked, startling the other two.

Jiyoon shook her head. “No one.”

Kikwang scoffed. “Taecyeon. She wants to fuck Taec.” Kikwang laughed as Jiyoon punched him in the arm.

Jiyoon crossed her arms over her chest. “Ass.” She then turned her attention to Hyunseung. “Why the hell are you late? And,” she stepped closer to him, inspecting his face, “who the fuck beat the shit out of you?”

Kikwang, who hadn’t really been paying attention to Hyunseung, walked over and inspected his face as well. “Holy shit Seung! What the hell happened?”

“Bar fight.” It was a simple enough lie.

Kikwang stepped closer, until the tips of his shoes were touching Hyunseung’s. He observed Hyunseung’s neck, and noticing the dark purple bruise just below his ear, Kikwang smirked. “You mother fucker. You got laid.”

Jiyoon smiled. “Its about time too.”

Hyunseung rolled his eyes. “You can both shut up now cause I’m not having this conversation.” He began walking towards the other end of the alleyway. “Lets go.”

Kikwang inhaled one last time from his cigarette, dropped it on to the ground, and followed Hyunseung.

“So who was it?”
“I told you I’m not talking about it.” Hyunseung put his hands in his front pockets.

Kikwang pouted. He linked his arm through Hyunseung’s and looked up at the taller male, his eyes wide and pout still in place. “Please Seungie.”

Hyunseung let out a small laugh. “No. That look stopped working on me years ago.”

Kikwang’s pout deepened and he let go of Hyunseung’s arm. “Fine. But I will find out. Just watch. I’m good at finding out people’s secrets.”

Hyunseung cringed, because that was indeed true. He was just going to have to be extra careful.

Jiyoon snorted. “Nosey little prick.”

Kikwang smiled. “Horny little bitch.”

“Both of you quiet. Were here.”

The trio became silent as they rounded a corner, stepping in front of a large iron gate. Hyunseung grabbed on to the top of the gate and pulled himself up and over. Jiyoon was next. Kikwang gave her foot a boost and when she pulled herself over Hyunseung held her by the waist, helping her down. Just as Kikwang was about to pull himself up, a males voice was heard coming from behind a large crate.

Kikwang moved so he was hiding in the shadows and Hyunseung and Jiyoon ran over to the crate, leaning against it.

“Listen here you bitch. I told you that if you didn’t do what I wanted I would fuck the shit out of you and then beat the shit out of you. Got it?”

The man walked right past the two leaning against the crate and before he could speak another word Hyunseung put the man into a sleeper-hold. The man dropped his phone and began struggling, but Hyunseung’s grip was strong and soon the man passed out. Hyunseung then dragged his body over to a spot between the gate and the crate.

Kikwang hurriedly jumped over the gate. He pulled out a piece of paper and handed it to Hyunseung. “The kid gave these directions to Doojoon. He said it would lead us to a spot where we could safely see the whole dock. He said he would distract any men that would normally be in that spot.”

Hyunseung nodded and began following what the directions said. For several minutes the trio maneuvered their way around a maze of crates, boxes, and different types of machinery, all the while making sure not to make a sound. They soon reached a metal staircase that lead to a tower overlooking the dock. The staircase and tower were against a large concrete wall, presumably the backside of a large building, and covered in darkness.

Hyunseung whispered, “We go up one at a time,” and made his way up the stairs. When he reached the tower he crouched down and made his way over to the lookout point.  When Jiyoon and Kikwang joined him, the three of them looked out, each looking in a different direction, over the dock, and then crouched back down again.

“I counted four.” Jiyoon whispered.

“Four also.” Kikwang stated.

“Five for me, plus the one at the gate. That’s four more than the kid said there would be. He lied.”

“Fuck.”

Jiyoon shook her head. “Lets double check the count, just to make sure.”

Hyunseung nodded and looked back over. He crouched back down. “There’s definitely thirteen down there.”

“Double fuck.” Kikwang looked grim. “What the hell do we do now?”

Hyunseung was about to answer when they heard footsteps coming up the stairs. The three of them froze, eyes wide and fists ready. After a few seconds a head with short black hair came into view.

“Don’t kill me.” Minho stated as his body came into full view.

Hyunseung growled and grabbed him by the collar and pinned him against the wall.

“What the fuck is going on? There’s more men here than you said.”

Minho glared. “I know that. That’s why I’m risking my neck coming up here to talk to you. They showed up fifteen minutes ago. My uncle is getting nervous about the shipment so he hired more men, promising them money also.”

Hyunseung stared at Minho for a moment, searching his eyes and face for any sign of lying.

Minho glared harder. “I’m not lying.”

Hyunseung released him. “Are there any more new developments we should know about?”

Minho shook his head. “No. The delivery date is still tomorrow and I will let you know if any more men show up.”

Hyunseung nodded. “What about weapons? How are the men armed?”

“They each have a large knife, some have two, and they each have some sort of weapon handy if they need it. They’re all large muscular men.”

Jiyoon snorted. “Their size doesn’t matter when it comes to us.”

“What about guns?” Kikwang hated guns.

“No guns. My uncle couldn’t afford them let alone keep them loaded.” Minho was quiet for a second. “There is one gun in the main office. My uncle keeps it hidden. It only has a couple of bullets.”

“Do you think you could take it and hide it somewhere before tomorrow night?”

Minho looked at Hyunseung and nodded. “Yes. There’s a place that I can hide it where he wont be able to find it.”

“Good. Now head back down.”

Minho turned to leave, but before he could get far Hyunseung stopped him.

“And remember kid,” Hyunseung locked eyes with Minho, “you don’t want to cross us. It will not end well for you if you do.”

Minho glared but shook his head in understanding before he left.

“Something just doesn’t feel right about all of this.” Jiyoon whispered as soon as she was sure Minho was gone.

Kikwang nodded his head. “I agree.” He looked at Hyunseung. “What do you think Seung?”

Hyunseung was quiet for a minute. Nothing about this situation felt right to him, but, like Doojoon had said, the accusation was too big to ignore.

“I’m not sure what I think. But I do know that I trust Doojoon and his judgment. If he believes that the kid is telling the truth, then I will back him up on that.” He looked at the other two. “I know that tomorrow night is going to be big and I admit that I’m nervous myself, but Doojoon would never willingly put us in a situation where he thought we could be killed.”

Jiyoon and Kikwang were quiet for a moment.
“You’re right Seung. Despite his attempts at trying to be all rough and tough around us, he does love us, even though he would never admit it.”

“I agree with both of you, but that still doesn’t mean that this uneasy feeling I’m having is going to go away.”

Hyunseung put his hand on Jiyoon’s shoulder. “I know Ji and I will talk with Doojoon when we get back to the house. I promise.”

Jiyoon smiled. “Thanks Hyunseung.”

“I still say you should fuck Taecyeon before tomorrow night, just to be on the safe side.” Kikwang smirked and was immediately rewarded with another punch to the arm.

Hyunseung smiled. “Come on, lets go.”

The three of them made their way down the stairs and out of the dock. As they walked home, none of them spoke; they were all lost in their own thoughts.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Doojoon sat quietly at his desk, taking in everything that Hyunseung had just told him.

“So what do you think?”

Doojoon stood up and turned around, looking out the large window in his office. “We’re going to continue as planned, but we’re going to bring in some more men.” He was quiet for a minute. “Call in Siwon, Inati, and Changmin. Have them meet here two hours before we leave for the dock so I can fill them in.”

Hyunseung nodded his head. “Okay.”

There was a moment of silence, both men lost in their own thoughts. Hyunseung observed Doojoon during that moment, noticing how strong yet tired he looked. He thought about how glad he was that he wasn’t the leader and that he didn’t have to make decisions that included the harming of his loved ones, of his family. He felt sick when he thought about the burdens placed upon Doojoon and Junhyung as leaders. Hyunseung hated their fathers more and more everyday for what they had done, for the world of pain that they had brought upon their sons.

“Was there something else you wanted to talk about?” Doojoon’s voice brought Hyunseung out of his thoughts.

“Actually yes.” Hyunseung moved to stand next to Doojoon. “Everyone is nervous. No one has a good feeling about this.”

“Does that include you?”

Hyunseung sighed. “Yes. I’m not sure I trust the kid. There’s something in his eyes and in the way that he presents himself that sets the alarms in my head off. I just can’t shake this feeling that there’s something not right about who he says he is. But…”

Doojoon turned his head to look at Hyunseung. “But what?”

Hyunseung continued to look out the window. “But like you said before, its too big of an accusation not to take seriously. If we ignore it and the kid is telling the truth, then that fool will sell those drugs, and knowing that he can get away with it he will bring more in. And then others will find out about it and try to do the same thing.” He paused to take a breath. “Then we would have a mess on our hands and our authority would be questioned. The city would see us as fools and weak minded and they would stop taking us seriously. And that would make it easy for our rivals to try and overthrow us. And…”

Doojoon smiled. This was the most Hyunseung had said to him in a long time and, he admitted quietly to himself, he hadn’t realized how much he missed talking with Hyunseung. He hadn’t realized how much he missed Hyunseung. Sure Hyunseung was always there, but he was never really there. He was always quiet and kept himself locked in his room, unless of course they had business to attend to. Doojoon missed being able to relax and spend time with his closest and most trusted friends, his brothers.

“And?”

“And I trust you and your judgment. I trust you with my life, with all of our lives. I know that you would never willingly put us in a situation that you thought we couldn’t handle, in a situation where you thought one of us might be killed.” Hyunseung turned to look Doojoon in the eyes. “I don’t envy the burdens that are placed upon you daily Doojoon and I’m sorry that I can’t help you with them. I’m sorry that you, that all of us, are forced to live the life’s we never wanted any part of.”

For the first time in a long time Doojoon saw true emotion show on Hyunseung’s usually stoic face. He felt a burning in his chest and the painfulness of unshed tears burn his eyes. He wrapped his arms around Hyunseung’s shoulders and pulled him into a hug.

Hyunseung froze, his arms dangling at his sides. “Um, what are you doing?”

Doojoon chuckled. “Hugging you, something that we haven’t done in years.” He squeezed tighter. “Thank you Hyunseung for all that you do for me, for all of us. I’m sorry things aren’t different; I wish to hell that they were. I wish we weren’t broken like we are.” He squeezed a little more. “I don’t know what I would do without you and Kikwang. You’re two of the reasons I’m still alive.”

Hyunseung relaxed and lightly wrapped his arms around Doojoon. “Yeah, well, you know…”

Neither of them realized that the door to the office had been opened until they felt a body plow into them and a pair of arms wrap around both of them. Doojoon smiled and wrapped one of his arms around the new body.

“I just had to get in on this.” Kikwang squeezed his arms around the other two, resting his head on Hyunseung’s shoulder. “We haven’t had a group hug in a long time, I miss them.” He nuzzled Hyunseung’s neck, giving it a light kiss.

“Hey! Knock that off!” Hyunseung removed one of his hands from around Doojoon’s waist and palmed Kikwang’s face just as he was about to kiss his cheek.

Kikwang pouted into Hyunseung’s hand and mumbled “no fair” before licking the palm covering his mouth. Hyunseung immediately retracted his hand, wiping it on Kikwang’s cheek. That proved to be the wrong move, however, because it gave Kikwang the perfect opportunity to kiss Hyunseung’s cheek.

“Damn it.” Hyunseung groaned as Kikwang pulled back from his cheek.

Doojoon laughed and squeezed both of their waists. “I fucking love you guys.” He then kissed Hyunseung’s cheek also.

“Fuck! Enough with the kissing.” Hyunseung squirmed and pushed until he was free of the hold the other two had on him. He shook his head, trying to suppress a grin. “I have to leave.” He began heading for the door.

“I hope its to meet whoever it is that gave you that hickey.” Doojoon smiled as Hyunseung’s hand shot up to his neck.

Kikwang smirked. “And I hope he fucks you good again cause its putting life back in your eyes.”

Doojoon and Kikwang laughed as Hyunseung flipped them off while he walked out the door, a grin brightening his features.
 ~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Junhyung walked through the front door of the Hotel and walked over to the kid at the counter.

Taemin’s eyes narrowed. “Can I help you Sir?”

Junhyung smirked; the kid had guts. “I need the key to room 23.”

“I can’t give it to you.”

Junhyung raised an eyebrow. “And why is that?”

“Because I don’t have it.”

Junhyung frowned. “Well, where is it?” He was becoming impatient.

Taemin stayed silent for a moment, his eyes still narrowed. He knew who was standing in front of him and sure he was a little intimidated, but he was more concerned about his Hyung and why he was secretly meeting Yong Junhyung.

Junhyung narrowed his eyes. “Look kid, I haven’t got all night. Where’s the fucking key?”

Taemin rolled his eyes. “Its already in the room with Hyunseung-hyung.”

Junhyung smirked and turned to leave, but a hand on his wrist stopped him. He looked up through narrowed eyes at Taemin, who was gnawing on his lower lip.

Taemin was sure he had lost his mind; otherwise he would never have done what he just did. And he would never ever say what he was about to say. He was sure he was going to be killed, but the need he felt to protect his Hyung was overpowering the voice in his head screaming warnings at him.

Junhyung looked down at his wrist and then back up at Taemin. “What are you doing?”

Taemin cleared his throat, narrowed his eyes, and tightened his grip. “If you hurt Hyunseung-hyung I will do everything within my power to beat the shit out of you even if it kills me. I don’t care that you’re Yong Junhyung and that you could kill me right now. That means shit to me when it comes to someone I care about. Hyung deserves the best and you better make sure that nothing bad happens to him.” Taemin continued to glare as he let Junhyung’s wrist go.

Junhyung would be lying if he said he wasn’t taken aback. No one had ever done what Taemin just did, at least not without receiving a brutal beating.

“What’s your name kid?”

“Taemin.”

“I take it you’re on Yoon Doojoon’s side then.”

Taemin stopped glaring and shook his head. “No Sir.” He gave a prideful smile. “I’m on Hyunseung-hyung’s side.”

Junhyung gave a half smile and looked Taemin in the eyes. “So am I kid.”

Taemin looked into Junhyung’s eyes for a moment before nodding his head and letting off a small smile. “Good.”
Junhyung shook his head and reached across the counter to pat Taemin’s cheek. “You got guts kid.”

Taemin smiled. “That’s what Hyung says.”

Junhyung turned to leave. “He’s usually right about things like that.”  He jogged up the stairs and down the hallway to room 23, smiling when he noticed that the door was slightly ajar. After locking the door behind him he rounded the corner and stopped halfway to the bed, his breath catching in his throat. He stood there for a moment, taking in the sight in front of him.

Hyunseung was lying on his back with his eyes closed, his lips lightly parted, and his chest rising and falling with his slow steady breaths. He had one arm underneath his head while the other rested on his chest and his red hair fell loosely over his eyes. The city lights poured into the room, providing a soft glow to Hyunseung’s face.

Hyunseung had always been beautiful to Junhyung. Hyunseung, with not just his looks but who he was as a person as well, was the only true beauty Junhyung had believed he had in his dark ugly world. And when their paths separated Junhyung had let the ugliness of his world consume him, but now…now the beauty that had kept him going was back in his life and he intended to do everything he could to keep it that way.

Junhyung slipped off his shoes, walked quietly over to the bed, and sat down next to Hyunseung. His fingers gently traced the outline of Hyunseung’s face, from his forehead down to his jaw and then down his neck. His fingers stopped at Hyunseung’s collarbone, his thumb gliding back and forth across it.

Hyunseung’s eyes fluttered open and when his eyes made contact with Junhyung’s he smiled.

“Hello beautiful.”

Hyunseung’s smile widened. “I wasn’t sure if I would ever hear you say that again.”

Junhyung’s hand made its way back up to Hyunseung’s cheek. “I’ll make sure I say it a lot then.”

Hyunseung’s hand moved from behind his neck to the back of Junhyung’s, pulling him closer. “Promise?” It was said lip against lip.

“I promise…beautiful.”

Their lips connected in a passionate kiss. Hyunseung pulled Junhyung on top of him, his arms around Junhyung’s neck, his hands running through Junhyung’s hair. The kiss deepened, it became more needy and full of something neither was sure of how to explain to the other, but both were fully aware of what it was. Clothes were soon discarded and once again their bodies became one, fitting and belonging together, just like they were meant to be.

~*~*~*~*~*~
His fist made contact again with Kim’s face, the blow hard enough that it sent Kim and the chair he was in crashing to the ground. He barely felt the hand on his shoulder trying to stop him as he grabbed Kim by throat and punched him in the face again. His vision went dark as the hatred he had for himself consumed him and he took his anger out on the unconscious man beneath him.

With each blow he landed the more enraged he felt. Kim’s face was so bloody and beaten that each time Junhyung hit him blood would spatter onto his face and arms. But he didn’t care. The darkness was beginning to become so consuming that he was losing all connection with reality.

It wasn’t until Yoseob kicked him in the gut that he came crashing back to reality. He stood up as Yoseob knelt down to check Kim’s pulse.

“Shit.” Yoseob pulled out his phone and began dialing.

“Is he…” Junhyung couldn’t even recognize his own voice.

Yoseob looked up at Junhyung, his expression blank. “Barely. Yes, we need an ambulance…”

Junhyung stepped back. He looked down at his blood-covered hands, and then at his blood covered jeans and shirt. The hatred that he felt towards himself so overpowering now that he was positive he was meant for the darkest pits of hell. He wiped his hands on his jeans and as he and Yoseob ran out of the room he looked back at the man on the floor, face unrecognizable due to cuts, swelling, and blood, body motionless and almost dead, and blood covering the floor around the body.

Junhyung knew that that scene would haunt him long after the day he died.

Junhyung’s eyes shot open, his breathing ragged, his body covered in sweat. He closed his eyes as he tried to control his breathing. He covered his face with his hands.

“Fuck.” He moved his hands from his face and rested them on his chest. He took a deep breath and tried to fight back the tears burning behind his eyes. He bit his lip as he turned onto his side. He stared at Hyunseung’s bare back as his thoughts consumed him.

He knew he deserved the nightmares, the painful memories, and the constant reminders of the monster he really is. He believed that he deserved every horrible thing that his life was full of, every hellish and hateful day. He believed that he deserved to die and rot in hell.
He didn’t believe that he deserved good things: happiness, friendship, forgiveness, and love. His mind was screaming that he didn’t deserve to be where he was right at that moment. His wasted heart was begging him not to listen to his mind, but to feel. To feel that he still had a heart. To believe that he did indeed still have a soul.

Junhyung fisted a handful of sheets as a few hot tears burned his cheeks. He wanted to scream and cry out loud. He got out of bed and walked to the bathroom and as soon as he looked at his reflection in the mirror his resolve crumbled. He let out a gut-wrenching scream as his fist made contact with the mirror, glass shattering and falling onto the sink. He screamed again as he lunged at the items on the sink, sending them crashing to the ground. And just as he stepped out of the bathroom Hyunseung appeared in front of him.

Junhyung looked at Hyunseung, his tear-filled eyes begging Hyunseung to help him. And all it took was a soft smile and a hand to his cheek for Junhyung to fully crumble. He fell to his knees and let the sobs out and the tears flow.

Hyunseung knelt down in front of Junhyung, wrapping his arms around him, holding him as their bodies shook from Junhyung’s sobs.

And that’s where they stayed for the remainder of the night; Junhyung wrapped in Hyunseung’s arms, crying and pleading for forgiveness and a better life, and Hyunseung, crying his own silent tears, promising Junhyung that he would do whatever it took to make things better.
