Because the best thing to do when you're careering headfirst into essay deadlines is... a dropping meme.

We begin with a complicated one. LATELY... I seem to have achieved something like balance with my characters. Of course, balance in my case means playing them equally (ie. not much) and this includes Wolfwood, for once. In fact he is maybe being played LESS. I don't know quite what's happened here, but it's strange and alarming. Wolfwood has been my primary for... for... TWO YEARS or something and now he's kind of slid off into secondary status. Although I think the case is more that I no longer have a character who is a real primary at the moment. Asuka and Youhei are the ones I'd consider primary-ish right now; not Wolfwood. Now I still love Wolfwood a whole lot but due to this strange slipping thing I don't tend to reach for him as much anymore. I think it may have something to do with end of semester crush and other things like being so psyched for my next app that I can think of nothing else, but it's still kind of sad for me. What's more, I have come to terms with the fact that I will drop him someday. It's a fact; I know because of my learnings. But for all I know, he might still be the last one I drop. It varies these days.

o chrno. He is one of two I would consider dropping immediately if I needed to lighten the load. He has basically dropped in activity a whole lot since Rosette dropped, because he became infinitely harder to work out mentally. I LOVE MY CAST, PAST AND PRESENT, but it's become a real snag for me and so he slid from a primary-ish position to a backburner. I have actually played him less than Rick this month, which is saying something. I still adore Chrno, I just feel like I've lost touch with his voice a whole lot. I need to reread canon and do an overhaul on his icon set before anything else. He's just not going to be a primary again any time soon, if ever. And yeah, he will get the boot if I decide I have too many characters.

HAHAHA god look at his comment count. Rick is the other character I would drop in a heartbeat if need be. And unlike Chrno, I wouldn't really be sad to see him go! I love Rick but I have no real attachment to him. He has hardly any connections in camp and I basically treat him like some ninja who lurks in the shadows of camp and appears just to be dryly cynical at things. This suits me; he will always be a backburner. The trouble is that THREADING with Rick is quite hard. I prefer to post with him... but then, I never post. Do you see my dilemma? Then again, after seeing the new movie trailer, I was all pumped about it. So his survival depends on my whims alone. Even if Juri WILL ban me if I drop him.

Hideki is never in any real danger of dropping. I don't love him with the fire of a thousand suns like I love Wolfwood, Asuka and Youhei, but he gives me absolutely no worries. And we just got a Chii! So like hell I'm dropping him any time soon. Hideki is one of the easiest characters for me to play, he just takes a fair amount of energy at times so he doesn't get out too often. I'm happy with the level of play he gets, even though it feels like he should be out more. But hey, he finally broke 1,000 comments. THAT'S SOMETHING GOOD :(

I HEART ASUKA SO MUCH YOU HAVE NO IDEA. She's BRILLIANT to play and I can throw her at pretty much anything and she'll be hilarious. As has been pointed out to me, she is basically an even more horrible Mimiru and god, I love it. If anyone in my current lineup has a shot at being primary, it's Asuka. I never think of dropping her, she's pretty much the safest character I have in that regard. I haven't played her much LATELY but that's because I am dying of homework. I love all her interactions with people, I love the Datenroku cast, and I still have a tonne of things I want to do with her. Like the mech simulators post. Someday I will get around to that. It occurs to me that the only girl characters I app tend to be loud, violent harpies (sometimes from outer space). I can't app nice girls. Just girls who pretend to be nice.

So the thing I hate about Moriyama is I end up wanting to app like... ALL the characters in his series, because they're all fantastic and pretty. Unfortunately I got to the end of volume 2 when SPOILER happened and I was like AAAAAAH YOUHEI I MUST HAVE. And I still feel that way: HE IS MY BOY. I could feasibly drop Youhei without too much stress since he's new, but I don't WANT to. His is a new canon and it's CONTINUING, which is something my other canons don't have. It means I will stay interested, unlike Trigun or Chrno Crusade which are very complete. And I also have Rena and Riku here in camp and. yes. So happy! So Youhei is one of the least likely to be dropped; he's up with Asuka in those terms. I don't think even his cast dropping would really affect him too badly. Youhei would keep on trucking no matter what, it's in his character. Now all I have to hope is that Moriyama doesn't throw a massive goddamn wrench into canon somehow. He's capable of it, after all.
So, in order of most likely to drop to least:
Chrno/Rick > Hideki > Wolfwood > Youhei/Asuka
Just... roughly. Wolfwood could be anywhere on that scheme at any given moment. It's hard to place him somewhere because he is like my third arm: ALWAYS THERE.
