*sighs* My poor baby boy. Reese hasn't been himself for a while. He hasn't been eating or drinking much, so I called the vet when I got home this afternoon. They had an opening at 5:30 today. So I plopped Reese in the carrier and off we went. I think he's getting used to these trips. The vet said that a bad smell was coming from his mouth and she wanted to check his teeth. She takes him into the back and about 10 mins later comes back out and says that his molars had grown over his tongue. Apparently ALL their teeth grow throughout their lives. But she had time that she could do dental surgery on him tonight. So she takes him into the back again, while I go outside to sit in the sun and read. At one point a pheasant hen and her two half-grown chicks wandered by. Apparently they come to the place often, as they had no fears of humans and pretty much walked around like they belonged there. Anyway, after about 45 mins, the assistant came out to collect me. She took me into one of the rooms and shortly thereafter, the vet came out with my baby boy. She was rather sleepy, as he hadn't come of the anesthesia yet. She filled a surgical glove with warm water, and put it under the towel I brought along. Reese snuggled up to it as soon as he was settled in the carrier. Then it was homeward. He pretty alert now. He was wandering about his cage until I sat down at the computer. At that point he ran into his hideaway, where he remains at this moment. The vet sent me off with three days worth of pain meds, some powdered food (in case he doesn't start eating), and some antibiotics that I have to give him for the next 10 days.
I copied this from my FB account, because that's a lot to type again.
