I spit with their dad when the kids were 5 1/2 and nearly 3. It was a domestic violence thing, so he wasn't allowed to see them at first. I was told he'd apply for access tot he kid in court, but he didn't follow through on that for more than a year. He saw the kids for 3 visits at their counselors, and then quit because it was too costly (and inconvenient for him, since he'd moved 3 hours away) he hasn't seen them in two years and doesn't respond to their emails. He sends birthday and Christmas gifts.
My daughter is 3.5, and her father lives in another state. He comes over a couple of times a year, but hasn't really done any proper parenting. The time they have together now is mostly unsupervised, so he's doing it more, but nothing on a regular basis.
My 5-year-old son's father has mental health issues and no legal residence. I have full custody. He has supervised visits with our son here at my house (I supervise them.) He is allowed three 4-hour visits one week and two 4-hour plus one 6-hour visit the alternate week, but he rarely shows up for every visit or on time or anything.
My daughter doesn't have a father (I used a sperm bank) so we don't have to worry about that.
