Like real lessons but not..

Today I used my first DVD class from my Guitar Tuition program. It was awesome because from the videos I've been producing I can appreciate the effort the guys who have created these DVD's have put into making them smooth, informative and incredibly user friendly.

I did my first hour session today. I did my usual alloted 15 minutes for third and forth string reading exercises and then I did the songs I'm supposed to master for this level with the provided backing tracks which are Love Me Tender, When The Saints and another one I can't recall the name of right now but y'know real basic but necessary stuff. I think my reading is improving with the consistent effort I'm putting in and I don't think I'll be in this section for much longer. I know its only the early stages of this course but making sure your practice and technique is perfect before you go into the next area is by no means an easy task. Like I said before, it would be easy for me to skip ahead but I feel I'd lose out on some great learning potential if I did that. The reason I've had to go back in the first place is because I didn't learn it the way I wanted to the first time.

Ella came and sat in the room with me while I practiced today, I tried to get her to leave at first but she wanted to be there so much that I thought was cute and just thought why not. She got a little book and read while I sat and practiced and I like the fact she got a chance to witness her daddy doing something he loved and making time to do it. I said she could learn to play the Guitar as well but she said she wants to play the violin so I guess we'll see what happens.

So as it stands my practice routine is 15 mins 6 days a week and then a full hour one day over the weekend and we'll stick to that and see where that gets us.
