I forgot to note earlier that I am really happy. I found the first pomegranates at Giant Eagle, right on time for the Autumnal Equinox. It fills me with enormous pleasure to be able to follow the cycles of certain crops, especially when I can align their presence at the grocery store with the turning of the Wheel of the Year. We may live in a city, but autumn reaches everywhere.
I have never felt quite so excited to go to the grocery store as I did today. It was just so fall-like. I needed to celebrate in my own public yet private way. I purchased apples, butter, cider, candycorn, challah, a miniature pumpkin, and a pomegranate: good foods. Foods that remind me of the season and draw hopeful housemates with empty tummies. I hope to cook apple crisp for them soon, and if this is successful, perhaps other treats. I still need to bless and hallow this house; perhaps I should honour Brighid with the first baking of cornbread this week as well.
All of these things are keeping me happy and keeping my mind off the absence of a car. I'm a little disappointed I didn't get to hike today, but I was productive and social enough not to get lonely. It's comforting to know that tomorrow I will be required to do a great deal of walking again, as well as running and climbing because Mondays are designated as X-treme. Oh, I can hardly wait to climb... *laughs* I hope I don't die playing racquetball. The OAC looks like heaven in my mind. I can't wait to see all of those Mountaineers.
I need to do some more homework before bed. None of the work I have left is due tomorrow, but I'd like to at least dent it so I have less to do on Monday night. I'm a bit apprehensive that school's really starting because I'm not used to being a student just yet, but at least I got the final essay for my DP accomplished after hours of work. Now I would just like to re-write piety before I send it in...
*smiles* But I am going to stop now. My homework should be done, but there was a lot of talking to be done. I am very grateful to Michaela in particular, but there will be a time for thank-you's later... now I need to go brush this crazy mane and pick up a geography textbook.
Hee, I am geekily excited about this book...
