I took advantage of Monday being a holiday & went home Sunday night after faire, rather than driving back to LA. Even though school was actually in session, I knew that professors would be lenient. (I'm so horrible!) I'm glad I went home though. Mom had been in a baking mood over the weekend & had made a chocolate cake. YUM! And the new registration for the wagon had just come, so Dad put the sticker on the license plate & the paper in the glove compartment.
AND I got to meet the kitten. Yep, Nathan picked out a kitten. I wanted to give it some time...we were both really upset about losing Kimi, but I guess we just had different ways of healing. I wanted to wait a little while & Nathan wanted to get a new cat right away. I guess it works out, since I'm not living at home anyway, but at the same time I also feel slightly detached from the kitten. I wasn't there when he picked it out, no one told me, etc. But, it is SO cute (as kittens tend to be) & very sweet.
Nathan wanted a 50/50 tabby, but he ended up w/ an all black one. He'd been checking the newspapers for free kittens & when he went over to this lady's house, she DID have a tabby, but it had been promised to a neighbor. But apparently Nathan & Shadow (as he named it) bonded right away. As soon as they met, Shadow started licking him & Nathan was sold. He is the most mellow kitten I've ever met. He's playful, for sure, but he's also very good at just hanging out by himself when everyone's busy. Shadow started licking me when we met too. I melted. I wonder if I can convince Nate to make his official name "Moon Shadow" & we can just call him Shadow for short. (teehee)
I'm starting to go through faire withdrawal.
Or is it faire *people* withdrawal? Hmmmm.
And I've decided that one of these days St. Murphy's is going to this...
