Mammoths and Emotional Recognition

Manny the Mammoth :: "Soooo... You really think she's the girl for me??"
Sid the Sloth :: "Absolutely! - She's tons of fun, and you're no fun at all. She completes you."

I'm watching Ice Age 2: The Meltdown on HBO, and it got me thinking...

Do you suppose that animators are more understanding of animals - as in, can understand them better, and recognize ideas and emotions in them?

Think of all the time that is put in to generating an entire personality primarily through the subtlety of eye movements! Manny the Mammoth is a giant chunky fur ball of a character, whose mouth you can't see, and whose personality must come across in his voice, body language, and eye movements. An animator might have scripted dialogue to listen to or play with, but they have to visualize how those words are internally motivated, emotionally generated, and then physically/ externally expressed.

Does this gift some people, then, with a greater insight into pets or other animals they might meet, in the physical world? ... An ability for a keener sense of thought or motivation or emotion, in an animal?

I dunno. Just wondering.

... Although, that line of thinking might also lead to the notion that anyone who consistently watches really well-animated animal characters might also, somehow, gain some insight as well.

Sid the Sloth :: "You guys will never guess what happened to me last night!"
Diego the Sabre-toothed Tiger :: "I'm gunna go out on a limb and say you were sleep walking."
Sid :: "I was kidnapped by a tribe of mini-shloths!
Diego :: "That was going to be my second guess...
Sid :: "... And they worshipped me!"
