I'm not a believer by any means, but I found some things in the bible while I was researching for a school project. I was actually pretty interesting.
Homosexuality in the Bible:
Jonathan and David's Story
1 Samuel 18
18:1- "...the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul."
18:4- "Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul."
1 Samuel 19
19:2- "But Jonathan Saul's son delighted much in David: and Jonathan told David, saying, Saul my father seeketh to kill thee: now therefore, I pray thee, take heed to thyself until the morning, and abide in a secret place, and hide thyself:"
1 Samuel 20
20:3- "And David sware moreover, and said, Thy father certainly knoweth that I have found grace in thine eyes; and he saith, Let not Jonathan know this, lest he be grieved: but truly as the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, there is but a step between me and death."
20:17- "And Jonathan caused David to swear again, because he loved him: for he loved him as he loved his own soul."
20:30- "Then Saul's anger was kindled against Jonathan, and he said unto him, Thou son of the perverse rebellious woman, do not I know that thou hast chosen the son of Jesse to thine own confusion, and unto the confusion of thy mother's nakedness?" (David is Jesse's son).
20:34- "So Jonathan arose from the table in fierce anger, and did eat no meat the second day of the month: for he was grieved for David because his father had done him shame. (Saul plans on killing David)
20:41- "David arose out of a place toward the south, and fell on his face to the ground, and bowed himself three times: and they kissed one another, and wept one with another, until David exceeded."
20:42- "And Jonathan said to David, Go in peace, forasmuch as we have sworn both of us in the name of the LORD, saying, The LORD be between me and thee, and between my seed and thy seed for ever. And he arose and departed: and Jonathan went into the city."
According to this story, God allowed the two lovers, Jonathan and David, to live after they pleaded to him for help. But according to many Christians, god hates homosexuals. If this was so, why would he help them?
2 Samuel 1
David finds out that after he and Jonathan had to part ways, Jonathan and his father, Saul, died in a battle. David mourns for them, and says about Jonathan:
1:25- "How are the mighty fallen in the midst of the battle! O Jonathan, thou wast slain in thine high places."
1:26- "I am distressed for thee, my brother Jonathan: very pleasant hast thou been unto me: thy love to me was wonderful, passing the love of women."
David says that he loves Jonathan, more than he ever loved any woman.
There are many references to Jesus loving his disciples, some passages even speaking of disciples "laying" on Jesus. There is much speculation that Jesus may have been gay.
