Famous Paintings

As a painter, .. , I decided to do a post about famous paintings that I find interesting. Maybe it will give me inspiration or something, lately I haven't been painting that much. I need to find a way to paint and watch dramas at once.

The Scream, Edward Munch

Lol, this thing always scared the hell outta me in Art class. I followed Art 4 times a week, and my seat was next to the wall where a big poster of this was hanging. Let me tell you, it is not fun when you have Art first thing in the morning, you walk to your seat still half asleep, and then this screamer starts staring at you with it's empty eyes. Goodmorning to you too!

Waterlillies, Claude Monet

Oh Monet. Dear dear monet. I have seen a million versions of this one. The famous Japenese bridges with their Waterlillies.
He was famous for it. The Waterlillies are my favorite Monet, I think they were the first paintings I really found inspiring. The modesty, the use of different colors, (look at the different shades of blue, green and purple!) sometimes it all just dazzled me.

Het meisje met de Parel, Johannes Vermeer.

I love this painting. I find it arguably the most beautiful painting made by a dutch painter. The modesty, the gorgeous blue, the purity of her face and her eyes and her expression, and just that little pearl as such a huge eyecatcher.. It's really inspiring. I can stare at it for hours.
