Honestly. That last episode tore me to pieces. Thank you writers for not sending me off with a very heavy heart at the last minute. I don't think I could've taken it.
It was great to see (a healthy!) Matsujun in this, that guy can act. I adored his character Vito. Also, lol at seeing Oguri Shun play the ruthless villain. At one point I litteraly went o_O "Rui! Stop harassing Domyoji!" xD
And I loved Hana-chan. So fragile at the beginning but so brave and strong when the story progresses. Out of the two of them she's definitely the strong one. Imagine Vito going through all of that without her..
So anyway, that was Smile.
As you might've noticed, not the cheeriest drama around. Not as cheery as the title implies anyway. (More tears than smiles I think.. There's crying everywhere. Including you.) But I definitely recommend it. It's special, yet realistic. It's heartbreakingly sad, yet uplifting. The leads are wonderful.. They tug at your heartstrings in the I-want-to-protect-them-from-the-cruel-cruel-world kind of way. And boyy, is the world cruel.. And in a scaringly realistic way.
