Bones & House speculations; seasonal markers & anticipations

  • On Bones: Mon dieu! An illegal smuggling operation within the Jeffersonian! Well, that wasn't very expected... I'm getting rather impatient with the Widow's son case. We're getting just tidbits with each case- after the second episode's buildup, it's rather a letdown. Also- Hooray for 80s throwbacks!
  • On House: THEY FINALLY GOT RID OF TSUNAMI GUY! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! He just annoyed the shit out of me from the very beginning on the season- he should've left last episode, and taken Cutthroat Bitch with him- a complete violation of the Hippocratic Oath, he did. Ugh. Anyway, CIA Guy's diagnosis was completely out of left field- I thought selenium poisoning was slightly akin to cyanide, but I had no idea it could make you look like Victor Greshenko, post-election. This coming episode looks interesting- a tumor of some sort in the patient, probably benign with some complications- yum!
  • Prediction: I think 9/6 is going to get the boot. The tie thing does not bode well for him in the eyes of House, I think. Although he is one of my favorites, along with Cole and 13, something tells me it's either him or Mr. 'Shiksas are for Practice' Plastic Surgeon. (Although the latter seriously cracks me up sometimes.:) Although- with CIA Girl thrown into the mix, who knows? I could (and probably will be) wrong...
So- Thanksgiving and the general holidays are approaching faster than I originally thought. (I realized this this morning while looking over the holiday music my mom had printed out for her students- I also realized that 'Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas' affects me much more on an emotional level than it used to.) Gotta start saving my pennies for gifts- now that I'm a big girl, I'm getting no help whatsoever from my parents, hints aside. And, seeing as how I'm already saving my pennies for my orchestra's trip to Europe in April, it looks like there will be lots of baking and knitting. :)
I've been watching 'Singin' In the Rain' for a couple of days, over and over again- I love it so much! It makes me want to get into ballroom dance- Gene Kelly (oh, he's so adorable!) and Donald O'Connor's moves seem so natural and energetic. I've practically memorized 'Moses Supposes' and 'Good Morning'!
Time for me to get on my little TV soapbox! At the beginning of December (the 2nd, I believe), the Sci-Fi channel will be premiering a new mini-series, called 'Tin Man'. It's supposed to be a modern re-interpretation of 'The Wizard of Oz' stories. I've seen the promos on Youtube, the casting seems fairly sturdy and it looks pretty, to say the least.
Now, let me tell you- I was a huge Oz fan when I was a child. I read nearly all of the original stories by L. Frank Baum (the ones by Ruth What's-Her-Face I thought to be rubbish) and I adored the movie, of course.  On the Internetz, the movie's getting mixed reviews. Most of everyone is saying, "Omfg!!1! This show is completely raping the original story!"
I wouldn't go so far as to say that. Granted, I haven't seen it yet, and it could very well be raping my childhood memories (or will, whenever I see it.) However, I appreciate the fact that the people behind Tin Man want to reinterpret the Beloved Story, and they have every right to.
Meanwhile, I'm awaiting the premiere with bated breath. We'll see what happens. In the interim, go to the website, road2oz.com. I apologize for sounding like a commercial, but I swear to god, the website is a work of art- it completely blew my mind!
