As vaguely promised, have some music. As it's 2:30am I'll be going a bit, er, fast and you might not get many videos this week. Not one but two new robots for our taglistings today.
(Pretty Fundoshi Demon Len, Len + Kaito + Takoluka, I don't... I just don't know, okay. Goth-hyper-j-rap?)
There are no real words. Just none, okay? Playing out more like a comedy skit than a song, this ridiculously energy-filled track with the most improbable main cast ever and a slew of quick catches and references charts the tales of a
distinctly terrifying Takoluka and Len as they top the shit out of everyone. Then Rin gatecrashes the video and forces Len and Kaito to sing a soulful falsetto duet. I just don't even know, man.
I ... guess I should put this at the top? The latest from hachi, this is a technically very good piece with an interesting and rather unique sound. It's too slow and dreary for me, however, and I couldn't really get into it - the video's clean and crisp but also doesn't really do anything for me. I dunno. It's shot up the rankings in a matter of days so maybe it's just me.
(Psychopath, Luka, THRAAAAAAASH METAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL)
This, I have to admit, is a little bit great. Luka's voice works perfectly for this rather emo and angry track that spends a good chunk of it's time drifting off into hanging beats and softer sections, and has avoided the recent trend of having a far too high Luka or at least making it sound much better. The only knock against it I have is that it sounds much like yuyoyuppe's previous tracks and if you've heard Palette you've pretty much heard this.
This is not much of a negative.
(Lovegazer, Miku, Pop)
Just in case you were worried that we weren't paying due homage, here's the latest from Deco*27. While not as stand-out as his more recent works - there's no breaking ground here, that's for sure - it's still a gorgeous and 'traditional' vocaloid soft pop track with some lovely piano, a well-tuned Miku, and a whole lot of fan following.
GUMIで「君の知らない物語」【supercell】(Kimi No Shiranai Monogatari (GUMI Version), Gumi, Pop/Easy Listening, AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH)
God damn it, Gumi. Seriously. Seriously? Is this what you will do to buy my love? In case you've been somewhat under a rock, Kimi No Shiranai Monogatari is the absolutely gorgeous Bakemonogatari ED theme by Nagi/Supercell, easily one of my most favorite songs ever for beautiful singing by Nagi and fantastic instrumentals by everyone else. An amazingly uplifting track, it crescendos perfectly and forever has a place on my mp3 player and... and this is it covered nigh-on perfectly by Gumi. God damn it, Gumi.
(Nervous, Miku, Piano + Drums)
It's fair to say we here at Singing Robot Enterprises (please don't sue us) like a bit of Puzzle and Ai Think So. From the same creator comes Nervous, a jumpy excitable snares-and-piano affair with a bluesy jazzy overtone and a great sound to it. Definitely a bit odd and weird in places, though I'm sure it's entirely purposeful, and the sheer joy in the piano playing carries the song well.
【MEIKO・KAITOでカバー】Lamento(日本語ver.)(Lamento, Meiko and Kaito, Soft Pop)
Arriving in the nick of time to lend a bit of class to an update that sorely needs it, this is an absolutely stunning track from paprika, who has done many high-profile kaito and meiko tracks in the past. It shows - both of them sound absolutely fantastic, far better quality than average, in a smooth and soulful softer track that makes for excellent ambience combined with a pretty smoking hot video.
(I/O, FL-Chan + Luka, Daft Punky Techno)
If you were feeling in the mood for a largely ambient trance experience with a hard backline and a whole unholy lot of Engrish, this will do you just fine - straight out of the books of Daft Punk with a dash of Perfume this duet between Luka and FL - and later, Rin and Miku getting in on the act - makes for a very pleasant few minutes.
(Scissorhands, Miku, Emo Big Band)
Nem, the producer famous for gamely trying to make Sonika popular, brings us this neat little fusion of angsty grinding guitar and big-band style trumpets and woodwinds that may or may not be designed to be a big ol' reference to classic movies. Either way, it's seriously impressive and works surprisingly well.
(RAN RAN RUU BUN-BUN-BOO, Len + Rin, Hyper Europop)
Just in case you were feeling the need for something a bit insane, this track should do you nicely - skimming just this side of happy hardcore, the twins deliver yet another largely nonsensical silly track full of ridiculous beats and earwormy sound effects and, er, dancing oranges in bunny hats. It's largely nuts, but at least it'll wake you up.
(Scene zero, Miku, Sad Miku In Snow And Pop Video)
Bring on the snow! It's the season of symbolism here in Vocaloid land and SHIKI brings us a ~mysterious~ and ~enigmatic~ video full of deep winter meaning and also singing robots, set to an echoing and mildly haunting track of synthing and guitars and snowflakes. I'm having to be careful here as I suspect there's only so far I can drag sad X in Y gags...
This short and frankly ridiculously cute track is mostly just included for the great video, full of a whole lot of silliness and gakupo not looking dumb and kaito with a recorder stuck in his mouth. NEXT.
【PV】(Tsundere Miku and Bakaito's Adventures In Fail, Miku, Jazz Pop)
That's my alternate title for this jazzy bluesy and yet still very anime-inspired track. Nothing new here but this has also been included for a fantastic video. No fancy animation here nor groundbreaking rotoscoping techniques - just a whole lot of Vocaloids failing at personal interaction and a whole lot of Kaito getting Miku's foot in his face.
