So we left our Motherland Maine, but stronger and bringing her here in out hearts. Almost immediately upon arrival, we bought a rototiller, dug up one side of the house and prepared beds to planting. And transplanting. Because about half of our moving truck and car was occupied by transplants from our garden. So now we're all set to go with strawberries, garlic, and various medicinals. And happy hands and feet in the garden. Hopefully we can catch up to the season and still grow as much as possible in herbs, greens, tomatoes, cukes, squashes, root veggies, and some melons.
We took Linn to the zoo for his first time. He loved it, and made sure we saw "everything". Here he is impersonating the lion.
I humbly took it upon myself to reorganize and clean my father's kitchen. In the process, I figured out why I grew up with such a disoriented perception of organization. Why, there are at least four places where cups were stored. And about five places where herbs and teas were stored. So I'm experimenting with the simple "like goes with like" idea. Hopefully he likes it. Heck, if it works for us, perhaps I can include "organization" into my future teaching curriculum vitae.
Speaking of, Phillips Academy Andover is leading the way in progressive learning, as always. They have a four season Yoga program that is part of the athletic AND extracurricular departments. But when I searched the websites of other local schools (including Brooks, my alma mater), I realized that they're sorely lacking in Yoga and mindfulness programs. So there's lots to do. Thomas has agreed to teach "Yoga for Partners" with me. We're excited to explore all the opportunities of northeast MA.
