You step in through the door and glance up at the sky
Im lying on the floor in a puddle of red dye
You turn to the camera and mention my name
you then say shes not real this body is fake
And so you set me off to the side of the room
then wander off west to play hide and seek with the moon
Though you had it mistaken the first time around
for the moon cannot hide but he does at least rip from
the sky a corner to cover him partially
Like the torn edges of paper
this blanket cuts from the sky
a stark white hole we will need much paint to disguise
I sit motionless like a doll in my corner and sing
my lips pretend to move
but no one is listening
Up on the highest mountain
You've found you can see the faint light of that
neglected moon
He comes out from hiding in forfeit a moment too soon
Because now you're singing too
You forgot how to be real
but at this you aren't new
I'm taking the stairs now back down to the earth
you forgot you were it, and I was behind the moon
I check you're pulse to make sure you're still breathing
I say to the camera hes fake how's he still singing
What I didn't yet realize was that we were all actors
playing our roles and rehearsing our lines
trying to block out the details of all our bad times
We sit like dolls on the shelves of our lives
until we finally fall off and forget why
why we sat dorment collecting dust
waiting for true love to come along and save us
But I'm tired of the movie
it always ends in the same way
but it never happens to me
