So I went out on a date last week- and it wasn’t with The Pugilist. Actually, after a ton of false starts, I think we really are on our way to being good friends, and that’s all. But anyway, I went on a date last Sunday. I also lost my iPod, but I am trying not to dwell on that right now.
His name is Pocket Protector Man (Cute Giggly Italian named him- not me), and he’s a recent transplant to our fair city, here for a job, of course. I met him at the Elegant Swing Oasis, and TP pointed out that he “followed me around the bar.”
I ignored TP (sorta), but paid attention to P-P Man; he did seem to be intrigued. So one day, aided by some red wine, I just asked if he liked me. He was startled, but admitted that yes, he found me attractive, and then we made a date to go see Shopgirl. And then we kissed. Ok, we made out- happy now?!
So anyhoo, we saw Shopgirl Sunday, then went to Skyline for an "Introduction to Cincinnati Chili." It was fun. It was weird- cuz it wasn’t TP, and if you know the plot of the movie, you’d find it ironic. But it was good- baby steps away from TP. They are sorely needed.
As for P-P Man, he’s a hard read. Just when I go all Greg Behrendt and conclude that “He’s Just Not All That Into You,” he does something like call, or walk over to me at The Oasis and have this long conversation.
I’m taking it for what it is- a date that happened. I had a good time. I’m not really All That Into Him, actually, if for no other reason than it seems premature at this stage. I’m just chillin’, seeing where life takes me.
