Hi!
With much determination I have successfully memorized all 37 symbols and how to make them correctly. My teacher tested me three times today and told me that she has never had someone write and recognize them so quickly. Maybe she was just being nice or maybe she just needed a reason to cover two new lessons today instead of one. Both Tiphanie and I wanted our brains to implode after said lessons. Therefore, we did what any smart girl does in such a situation: shopping and chocolate.
While we were walking home this evening we decided that I would post sort of a mixed tape of funny little things, emotions, and just small weird things that have happened to us.
1. Tiphanie likes to sing "No Handlebars" by Flobots when I'm doing crazy things on my bike like crossing six lanes of traffic during rush hour like a crazy woman. She also does this when I almost fall down while I'm exiting my bike.
2. Tiph attempted to ride her bike in a circular, shallow gutter in the park. I was of course sitting on the ground, cooley sipping my drink and making fun of her. She fell. Hard. And I laughed harder.
3. This morning a worker at Hong Ya breakfast danced like a chicken in order to ask if I wanted chicken on my sandwich. I clapped and said yes...IN CHINESE.
4. I found two shirts that actually fit me. I screamed with joyous songs and jubilee and did a slight dance in the street. We are already the center of attention. It doesn't really matter.
5. We almost got snagged by a semi truck today during rush hour. Pastor's wife's solution is for us not to ride during rush hour. Unfortunately, we get out of school at 4pm: rush hour.
6. Today we went to a drink shop near one of the colleges. The girl behind the counter couldn't figure out that our picture was a pineapple (a first!) and she counted wrong change three times in a row. Tiphanie was sad but I reassured her by saying,"it turns out that you can spot a ditz in any culture."
7. Today Tiphanie and I realized that everyone at home is moving on with their lives without us. Most of our friends are on the straight and narrow path to marriage. We are somewhere to the left or right (whatever your preference) and it's cool but kind of depressing. Hence, the chocolate.
8. We heard the Cardigan's "Lovefool" at a food joint this afternoon and sang as loud as possible while relishing in the memories of 5th grade through high school. Then it started raining on us. Haha.
9. There's a typhoon headed kind of towards us; we're pretty excited!
10. There really is nothing to say here but in case you're an obsessive person that needs lists in rounded numbers, I decided to add it anyway.
Peace! Y
Jenna
