That would be, "my recent thoughts." :-)
Lately, i've found the only responses i can give to that blasted "So what's new with you!?" question are either "nothing" or "eh same old..."
That's kinda depressing, see, because new stuff is exciting! I mean come on, who wouldn't opt for a brand new handbag or eyeshadow compact (or game system, i won't discriminate) over the one they already have?
Thing is, why don't we think of grace that way every day?
Quite simple: you wake up. throw your alarm clock(/cat) across the room. stretch. roll out of bed. (i guess this is the part where most guys just quit but any female can think of at least 3 more steps, the least of which is a shower...)
Would it be different if i realized that grace alone carries me through all this stuff? Would my "routine" (or lack thereof, in honor of Christmas break) alter itself at all if i was fully conscious and aware (or as close to it as possible given that i just woke up) of the grace that covers me?
I mean i'd sure as heck love to find out, as i bet you would too
Of course, there are those who would say "Gosh Emily you're such a jerk. You should see grace all over all the stuff that you've been blessed with and your wonderful family...."
After calling them self-righteous bastards and cussing them out for irking me first thing in the AM, i'd argue vehemently that seeing all the great things i have produces quite the opposite effect. (Insert anti-suburban-American cynicism here) Truly, who is more likely to wake up and immediately think "MORNING...BEAUTIFUL...GRACE!!!!":
-the kid who's got too much stuff (and a wallfull of Beanie Babies collecting dust)?
-the kid who's so sick/hungry/in danger, rather surprised that she woke up at all?
So goal/challenge for you and for me: look at the clock as a reminder, not a threat. Remind yourself that, even though we're not worthy of a minute of God's time, He wants us to spend every minute of LITERALLY FOREVER with Him. Starting...right...about...now?
I mean even if you don't see that as the steamiest love statement ever, you gotta be smart about it. If someone's all-powerful and all-knowing, it's wise to be on their team, no?
That's about all for now. It's almost 2 AM, and since i don't have anywhere to be (such as desperately lost on I-295...) it's lookin' like bedtime!
I'd appreciate prayer in preparing for Urbana, once again, that whole "time management" thing!!
I LOVE YOU tender!!
