OK, so listen to this story.
THE TALE OF THE "FREE" FALLAPALOOZA
Two girls decided to go to Hemby Y's FALLAPALOOZA one day. Their names were Caro and Nat. They walked to the festival because it is right behind their houses. When they got there, they decided that they were hungry. The first thing they came to was a popcorn stand. Nat asked the guy in the bright orange shirt how much money it cost to buy popcorn. He answered with "It doesn't cost anything. Everything here is free. You don't have to worry about that." FREE! Wow! Nat and Caro were amazed that everything didn't cost any money at all. After awhile, they had eaten a full bag of popcorn, one snow cone, two sodas, nachos, and had even gotten two free Hemby Y Shirts. Nat and Caro were having a great time! Then Caro realized that she had to be home for a babysitting job. As they were leaving, Caro asked Nat why everyone was carrying around a white plastic bag. "I don't know," Nat answered. So she asked a lady nearby. The lady replied with "Oh. You get them as you drive in at the little white house." "Oh. We walked here." Nat answered. Then the lady said, "Well then you got here illegally." Caro and Nat and the lady all sort of laughed a bit. Caro and Nat were SO confused. The guy in the bright orange shirt had said it was all free. Hmm... So immediately Caro and Nat felt bad. Nat went up to the little white house while Caro stayed with the TSHIRTS and she asked the man sitting there, "How much does it cost to get in?" "Well, do you have a ticket?" the man asked. "No," she answered. "Well then it's $10 to get in." Nat was in shock. No way! Caro and her had just eaten about 3 people's worth of food and they hadn't even paid for it. She ran back and told Caro. They both knew what they had to do. Caro ran back in (the wrong way) and put both T-Shirts back. Then she gave Nat her $10 and told her to run home and tell her mom. Nat was scared. She had no idea how her mother would react. But, when she got home, Caro had already called her mother and explained everything that had happened. Nat's mom was not very happy, but she drove Nat down to the Y to pay for the two tickets that they had needed to pay for ahead of time. When they drove up to the little white house, the same guy was standing there. When he saw Nat was in the car, the smile faded from his face. "Two tickets please." Nat's mom said in a cheery sing-song voice. "How much will this cost?" "Well it's $5 for every adult, and all children under the age of 16 get in FREE." The man answered. Nat was FURIOUS! She had ran all the way home and wasted $5 of her OWN money because the guy had lied to her! It was not $10 per person. It was FREE for her and Caro. Nat stormed up to the T-Shirt table so she could ATLEAST get a shirt out of all this. None were left. Nat was mad again. She and her mother left, not looking back. Never again will Nat listen to any people in bright orange shirts taking advantage of the fact that she doesn't have an adult. $5 were wasted that day in the month of October, and the lesson learned is, everything that seems to be FREE may not be.
