My county was highly discussed in the media (as of 10 pm, polls closed at 8, there were still people voting!) as one of the most highly contested counties in one of the battleground states.
Ive been very actively following all the results, including the FOUR states that legalized gay marriage as per vote :)
It boggles our mind that people would stand in line for hours after the polls closed. We don't have that here. We only ever see this kind of footage in third world countries where people are allowed to vote for the first time! O.o Geez. But I'm thrilled that so many people would wait for endless hours to vote. \o/
As for the gay marriage thing, we didn't hear about this on the news. It was all about Obama vs. Romney. Maybe also because gay marriage is old news for many countries here in Europe, dunno. Either way, when I read about this here on LJ, I was all...*points at icon* :D
When I woke up at 4:45 AM in the morning thanks to my cat destroying half of my apartment, I went online to check the preliminary results, and Romney was leading. O.O I was like ZOMGWTF?!?!?! D: D: D: Went back to, uh, sleep and then listened to the 6 o'clock news, and they said Obama was the new/old president even though Romney refused to accept his loss. Half an hour later, Mitten finally congratulated Obama.
