Today started out an off day. I woke up early and left early for my internship only to realize that I'd forgotten my ID badge for work... This was AFTER 20 minutes of sitting in traffic. I had to drive back, go up to my apartment, get my badge, get out of my parking garage and back INTO traffic. Yet somehow, I managed to still get to work on time.
Then, around 11:30, I was sitting discussing something with Julia and Dave at my internship. All of a sudden, I start to feel something. I turn to Julia. "Did you feel that?" Dave said no, Julia said, "Yeah, I think it was a truck going by. THey sometimes shake the building." Suddenly, I see the row of monitors start to shake. It's an earthquake!! I look at Julia and she darts for under the door. I follow, thanking God SOMEONE listened in emergency classes. Its not a violent shake, easy to walk in, but the lights are shaking and there's an 8 ft wall of decks in the middle of the room.
They usher us out of the building and into the parking lot. We look up and see the light post lightly swaying back and forth. It was kind of fun, weird, surreal, etc. If it'd been more than a tremor (which is about what it was where I was) it would be a lot scarier. Its kind of the equivalent of an intense thunderstorm in Missouri. Its kind of like, the tornado sirens are going off, but all you get is hail. Man.. I can't wait for weather again!
But don't worry, I'm OK. The epicenter was about 50 miles from LA. Everything is OK. Nothing was wrong in my apartment... except maybe my cats being freaked out.
