I have NO CLUE who DJ AM is. But I feel like maybe I should? Maybe you all could enlighten me. Was he actually a popular dj outside of Hollywood's elite? Does Paris Hilton know it doesnt take a fucking scientist to spin a couple of records ( Read more... )

Everyone in Hollywood land is sad about it. I don't know...he was just a man who had already cheated death once. Why screw around with it again, you know? Esp when he had been "sober" for the last ten years.

Eh, whatever. I don't know why I'm being so hyper critical about this. I dont really want to care about it. But I've had a lot of friends OD and pass, and it's sad that the same people who mourn the DJ AM and Heath Ledger types were always the first to pass judgment on said friends.

Don't forget, famous (or semi-famous) people can do no wrong. Look at Bret Michaels and Michael Vick.

I'm a bit less harsh than some about falling off the wagon, because I know how easy it is, even when you've been sober a long time -- contrary to what some people think, it doesn't get any easier just because you've been sober a long time. And I'm sure he spent all of his time around people who were drinking and doping constantly, which never helps. Which is not to say that he shouldn't have known better. Then again, addicts are rarely in possession of good judgment -- that's how they got to be addicts in the first place, nu?

Eh yeah...I was thinking I have no real room to judge when it comes to that. BUT, Im not out there promoting a TV Show that tells people how lucky I am to have stayed sober for upteenth years and what not.

Mostly I'm just upset because it's coming upon the anniversary of a good friends passing, and I remember how everyone was just so mean about it. Those same people are some how affected by Hollywood deaths like this, and it just makes no sense.

I always feel bad for those people on TV trumpeting their sobriety, because those are often the first people to fall off the wagon and when they do, it's usually from a great height and highly painful. And, as people like DJ AM, Heath Ledger, and Dee Dee Ramone prove, often fatal. As for the people getting all worked up over Hollywood types who would have never even noticed them in real life, those people just need to get a grip on reality. The world is full of dumbasses; many of them express their dumbassedness by claiming solidarity with celebrities so far removed from the reality of everyday life that they might as well be cartoons. I'd feel sorry for those people, if I were capable of feeling sorry for dumbasses.
