It's been a strange few days.
My partner was quasi-backmailed in to going back to MN to see his family, even though this places him at great risk of being unable to come back, if his head goes bad again. We had a Dutch scholar staying with us for a couple of weeks whom I'd met before in Italy. He was stuck here due to the volcanic eruption in Iceland. I'm gearing up for a trip to California to hang out with a bunch of people I've never met because that's what my life wants right now. A visiting scholar spent two days giving me advice. I've felt renewed and for the first time, really excited about the work that I'm doing and where I am right now (fiiiiiinally). I had a high school student random-text my number and we've been exchanging random strange texts ever since. I try to pretend to be his conscience. Seasonal allergies are back for the first time since I went GF. Nothing here seems quite as bad anymore. This city and entire region really took on a very maleficent cast, particularly in the last year and worsening as winter descended. Now everything is brightening, the disposition of the people as well as the weather, but also things seem fundamentally different. I can't recall a time in my life when this has happened before.
