Well well! Interesting! Very different portrayal of Nero than I imagine him, and his relationship with Ayel, but I like to be surprised :D Poor Ayel - but I like his different perspective on time.

I am wading deeper in to the Diane Duane stuff myself lately.... its been a while.

This is amazing! Great characterization and details. Nero's madness is insidious, and you've done a wonderful job balancing it with the focus he needs to have kept control for long enough to carry out his revenge. (And a touch of Rihannsu is a wonderful thing.)
