I really, really like this. This piece has a vivid, lyrical prose style and the imagery in it is gorgeous, the sex is extremely sexy, and the ending is warm and fuzzy without completely breaking from the darkness of Morgana's character.

Have you posted this anywhere? Also, what was the pairing you thought you were going to write?

Aww, thank you! I was really, really nervous about posting f/f, so your good opinion means a lot to me. I mean, it would still mean a lot even if I weren't nervous. You get the idea.

I linked it at gwenmorganabbc, and from there I think the newsletter should pick it up tomorrow. I wasn't sure what other communities were out there for this pairing, plus I figure everyone reads the newsletter.

I was pretty sure I was going to write Merlin/Arthur, but then this happened. I suppose I still could write it, except I don't quite have any plot ideas yet. Hmph.

I was kind of wondering of you were referencing the Kushiel series with the midwinter celebrations! I figured probably not but that it was remotely possible.

There's always merlinfic, though it has a comparatively tiny audience.

I know the feeling about the nerves. Not those specific ones, but I'm not used to posting fic anywhere and it makes me super duper nervous pretty much every time I do it.

I only read the one Kushiel book, but no, I found information on midwinter celebrations somewhere on wikipedia, and it mentioned the coal thing.

Also, I hear you about no ideas for Merlin/Arthur. I keep wanting to write weird things there is no place for in the fandom, like gen or Uther/Morgana's Father or a crossover with House.

You should totally write gen. Or Uther/Gorlois! Or a House crossover! I would read all of those, and I'm sure other people would too. (Especially Uther/Gorlois. That sounds awesome.)

...I hope you were serious about the Uther/Gorlois, because I totally did write that. It is a bit dark and weird and very much me making up my own legends that I stole from the Bible. If you've got an email address I can send it to you? I am not sure how well it works so I don't want to post it publicly yet.

I don't think I am good enough at medicine to be able to pull off the House crossover yet, though.

I'm sure other people besides me do too. Plus, Merlin fandom is huge enough that whatever you write, someone somewhere will want to read it. Even gen! I saw someone on the newsletter posting their 90,000 word gen story just today!

Yeah, that's why I've never been able to write House. That, and I think I am not clever enough to do House's snark. You could probably find someone who knows something about medicine to beta (there must be such people; this fandom is huge), or bug little_details repeatedly.
