Having shiny new fandoms usually makes me want to vid.
Except the vid ideas I seem to be having are about Ray... Kowalski. Wrong frickin' fandom, brain. "Someone Who Is Cool" came on my iPod on random the other day, and I remembered how, before I owned the dS DVDs, I really, really wanted a RayK vid to this song. '90s Canadian rock, so it's the right sound for dS. And, plus, it's the perfect undercover!RayK song. He's trying to be someone else, someone who is cool (i.e., Vecchio). He thinks he won Stella's love by deceit ("It was the tear that got me the girl"). He's secretly a big dork who has to be a badass -- "On the inside I'm a poet," you know? It's perfect, I tell you, perfect. (You can hear the song
here.)
The problem being, I can't make this vid. I envision the chorus doing that thing where we show RayK and RayV clips of them doing the same things, making similar motions, etc. And I just don't *know* S1/2 well enough to find clips of RayV. (I've seen maybe three episodes of S2.) Bah. This is why I wish people still vidded in collectives.
So if I want to make a dS vid, it had probably better be the vid Jen wants to make to "The Kid." Which would be way easier. And it would be fun. (But not as fun as my idea. :P)
And, yes, I do want to make Pros vids, once I actually finish watching the show. Jen says we should make a vid to
Ingrid Michaelson's "The Way I Am", which would be aww and sweet and a little bit ironic. (Like "I love the way you say good morning" has got to be "Old Dog New Tricks," right? Or, you know, there's a lot of times Doyle wakes Bodie up and he looks miserable.) It would be cute. Plus, short! Easy! (Probably Bodie POV.)
But the secret Pros vid of my dreams is to "Till You're Dead" by Melissa Ferrick. (Everyone makes m/m slash vids to lesbian folk music, right?) It would be a vid about how B/D love each other, but their job is dangerous and they're probably going to die, and probably together. (Emotional referent: the possible car bomb in Purging.) I'm thinking Doyle POV, because if either of them fits "Cause I thought love was hard / I tried with all my might / And I thought love lasted /So I always stayed the night," it'd be Doyle. (Jen doesn't want to make this one with me. She says it's too angsty. Bah, I say. So I suppose on the list of Pros vids we want to make, hers comes first.)
(Lyrics
here. I can't find the album version of the song on YT, but you can hear
this version, which is fairly representative of how she plays it live -- that is, twice as fast as the album, with random joking banter. I also found
this guy singing it. It's more representative of the album version, but, uh, he's not as good as Melissa.)
