Pirates, ice cream, and also folk music

Like everybody else in the entire world has done, I went and saw Pirates of the Caribbean with lysimache last night. Arrrrr. Jack is *so* the gayest pirate ever. Hee. It was cutecute. Jen has been saying "arrr" at me and singing the pirate song under her breath for the last two days. Also she bought me ice cream cake, which I think is really sweet of her -- I've always had ice cream cake for my birthday, but I didn't get to have it this year, since my mother pushed chocolate cake at me. So Jen bought me ice cream cake. Awwww. I [heart] her so.

(Incidentally, I was only familiar with ice cream cake that is cake with ice cream as filling, rather than something that is basically a cake-shaped ice cream sundae. I had no idea such things existed. Cool.)

And today we went into Philadelphia for the XPN Singer-Songwriter Festival. Lots of walking. I ache. I unfortunately stayed up late and thus slept in late, meaning that we missed all of Kathleen Edwards's set. Jen had wanted to see her. Whoops. I feel bad about that.

It was very hot outside, I thought, but I am told this is not hot weather. I don't think I want to experience actual hot weather. I am such a Californian. We sat around in the shade and played many games of pirate-themed Hangman on the programs. Arrr.

We did see Nickel Creek perform, if by "see" you mean "can maybe see one person in the band if you stand up and crane your neck." But still, they were good. Goodgoodgood. Eeee. They did an excellent set. I might have to check out one of their albums now.

Tomorrow: the other day of the festival, including They Might Be Giants. Eee ee eee. I suppose we should get there early if we actually want to see anything.
